First day collection of 'I Me Aur Main' at the box-office

The John Abraham starrer romantic movie ‘I me aur main’ has released on 1st March 2013. John Abraham plays the role of a carefree Bollywood music director in the film who is a child at heart and takes all the relationships for granted. He lives with his beautiful girlfriend Anushka (Chitrangda Singh). His life suddenly changes as he loses his job and girlfriend, he starts reeling under the irrecoverable blow. It is at this time that he meets the pretty girl Gauri (played by Prachi Desai) who teaches him the values of relation.
The past one month was hectic for John and other members of the cast as they promoted the movie. The last two movies in which John appeared did well at the box office, ‘Race 2’ and ‘Housefull 2’. Even the movie that John produced, ‘Vicky Donor’ did a good collection at the box office. Therefore as the movie ('I me aur main') released on the silver screen, the expectation of the team was high. They waited for the box office result with baited breath.
However, the news from the box office so far is dismal. The movie is not doing well at all. The film managed to open in healthy number of silver screens across India. But the review it got from the viewers and the critics is a mixed bag. The occupancy rate was also a very disheartening 20% to 25% on Friday. Performance of the flick was slightly better in the multiplexes at Delhi, Mumbai and parts of Uttar Pradesh. Collection of the film at the box office is estimated to be well below Rs. 3 crore. According to the sources the exact figure can be somewhere near Rs. 1.75 crore.
Though this is a bad score card, not everything is lost for the film, 'I me aur main'. The movie is expected to have higher collection on Saturday and Sunday.
The release of ‘Kai Po Che’ is also held responsible for the debacle of ‘I me aur main’ at the box office. ‘Kai Po Che’ is a major hit and drawing audience in hordes that is drying up the line in front of the ticket counter of ‘I me aur main’. On top of it, Ram Gopal Verma’s ‘The Attacks of 26/11? is also all set to eat away the collection of the John Abraham starrer.
