Here is a lowdown on a few of his films that have shaped his career post his arrest in 1993

Khalnayak (1993): When this released, Sanjay Dutt was in jail, his popularity had already soared sky high due to the sympathy wave of the public. This was the first time he played a negative lead. The film went on to collect Rs 21.5 crore at the box office.

Vaastav (1999): With this film he was established as the don (bhai) of Bollywood. His portrayal of Raghu Bhai won him many awards and accolades. He won a best actor award after being in the film industry for 18 years. The film collected Rs 17 crore at the box office.


Munnabhai MBBS (2003): He was just supposed to do a special appearance in this film, but he ended up playing the title role. The film revamped his public image. The film collected Rs 31 crore at the box office.

Dus (2005): He played an ATS chief in this film which went on to collect Rs 33 crore at the box office.

Lage Raho Munnabhai (2007): With this film he reprised the role of Munnabhai and set the box office on fire. His popularity reached an all-time high. The film collected Rs 72 crore.

All The Best (2009): The film released during Diwali and clashed with another film starring him called Blue. This comic caper set the audience rolling on the floor thanks to Dutt's antics. The film collected Rs 40 crore at the box office.

Double Dhamaal (2011): A sequel to Dhamaal, the film collected Rs 44 crore at the box office.


Agneepath (2012): With this film he reprised the role of Kancha Cheena, which was earlier played by Danny Denzongpa in the original. The audience was scared of his on screen bald look. The film collected Rs 122 crore at the box office.

Son of Sardar (2012): His pairing with Ajay Devgn was a hit and the film collected Rs 105 crore.
