Akshay to star opposite Nargis Fakhri in ‘Shaukeen’ remake

Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar will be seen romancing the ‘Rockstar’ actress Nargis Fakhri in the remake version of 'Shaukeen'. Akshay will reprise the role of Mithun Chakraborty and Nargis will step into Rati Agnohotri’s character. Basu Chatterjee's 1982 comedy 'Shaukeen' starring Mithun and Rati Agnihotri was a blockbuster. The makers have brought the right of the movie.
The remake version will be directed by Rumi Jaffrey of 'God Tussi Great Go' fame. "We will have Akshay and Nargis in the film. We have just bought the rights of the film but have changed a lot of things to suit the sensibilities of today's audience. Nargis is talented, hence we cast her. Akshay is a brilliant actor and is good at entertaining people," Rumi told PTI.
This is the first time Nargis and Akshay will be paired opposite each other. The script has been rewritten to suit today’s audience taste. The makers are in the process of finalizing dates with the actors.
In the original, Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and AK Hangal were shown attracted to the much-younger Rati Agnihotri in 'Shaukeen'. In the remake, Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Anupam Kher have been signed for the three old men roles.
The film will be shot in Thailand and the film is expected to go on floor later this year.
After the completion of ‘Shaukeen’ remake, Writer-director Rumi is keen to remake Chatterjee's another film 'Lakhon Ki Baat'.
