Bollywood shocked over Rituparno Ghosh’s sudden demise




Bollywood fraternity expressed shock over the sudden demise of noted Bengali filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh

. He passed away this morning of cardiac attack.  He was suffering from pancreatitis. Ghosh was 49.
He made many hit Bengali and Hindi movies. He made 19 movies and won 12 National awards. Actors like Aishwarya Rai, Prosenjit, Jishu Sengupta, Raima Sen and few more names had the opportunity to work with Rituparno. He won National awards for films like ‘Dahan’, ‘Utsab’, ‘Dosor’, ‘The Last Lear’,’Shob Charitro Kalponik’ and ‘Abohoman’, ‘Raincoat’.
His sudden demise has taken the film industry with a blow. Celebrities took to twitter to express their grief.
Shyam Benegal said, “Rituparno followed the legacy initiated by stalwarts like Satyajit Ray and Mrinal Sen. He had a high sense of aesthetic and had a great ability of tell stories and handle actors. There is hardly any flaw in his kind of filmmaking. His passing away is a huge loss to the film industry.”
Acclaimed director Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted "I m speechless and shocked to know that talented filmmaker Rituparna Ghosh has expired."

Echoing Madhur Bhandarkar's sentiments and remembering the pleasant time they had together, actress Divya Dutta tweeted, "Shocked to hear about Rituda! Not sinking in! Fondest memories of working wth him in the Last Lear! RIP."

Film director Onir expresses regret over Rituparno's death. He tweeted, "His passing away will be a big loss not only to lovers of cinema and art , but a huge loss to the LGBT community." He added, " Last met him at the day of the National awards. He was radiant and happy like a child."

Still not able to come in terms with Rituparno's death, Tamil actor Arvind Swami tweets, "Saddened and shocked to hear that Rituparno Ghosh has passed away at such a young age. A great loss for Indian Cinema."

Rituparno ventured into filmmaking with ‘Hirer Angti’. Rituparno lived life on his terms.
