An entertaining
metaphor for rural India’s struggle to access the supposed economic
miracle of the nation, ‘Dekh Indian Circus’ presented by Imtiaz Ali was
awarded a whopping six National Film Awards – including Best Children’s
Film (Mangesh Hadawale (Director), Mahaveer Jain (Producer), Jury
Special Award – Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Lead Actor), Best Child Actor –
Virendra Singh Rathore (Child Artist), Jury Special Mention – Tannishtha
Chatterjee (Lead Actress) and Prasoon Joshi (Best Lyrics) and Shankar
Mahadevan (Best Playback Singer - Male), who chose to be a part of this
movie merely because of their love for the script. The team now comes
together to celebrate the success of its wins in Delhi tomorrow at the
Press Club.
Presented by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Mahaveer Jain, Anil Lad,
Chirag Shah and Vivek Oberoi, ‘Dekh Indian Circus’, a film about finding
victory and smiles with the small things in lives directed by Mangesh
Hadawale also premiered at the 16th Busan Film Festival in the New
Currents section, opening to positive review from critics and winning
the Audience Choice award .
Says Imtiaz, “I knew it had national and international accolades
written all over it. It’s an entertaining and emotional movie that will
definitely touch the audience’s hearts.”
Adds lyricist Prasoon Joshi, “I am happy that the Government honored the film with recognition because in the cut-throat world, people see only huge investments. The rest takes a back seat. Through a film like this people will appreciate quality cinema and will get to watch a story that will be remembered for a long time.”
The film stars Nawazzudin Siddiqui, Tannishtha Chatterjee and is directed by Mangesh Hadawale.
