When the B’ town is rife with jealousy, ego clashes and petty rivalries, a few genuine friendships endure. One of them is the friendship between Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt. The two are fast friends and have worked together in a number of films like Saajan and Chal mere bhai and have co anchored the show Bigg Boss. Dutt had been sentenced to five years in jail for possession of illegal arms in a notified area during the Mumbai blasts of 1993. His final petition was rejected by the Apex court and he was sentenced to carry out the three remaining years of his sentence.
As the news of his final conviction broke, Salman Khan was said to be very concerned. Salman was in the USA when the verdict was in given, for the shooting of a film. Reportedly, he rang up Trishala to offer his comfort and support. Trishala is the eldest daughter of Sanjay Dutt with his first wife Richa. She lives with her maternal grandparents in the USA.
According to a source, “Salman was in America when the news of Dutt`s conviction broke. The first person Salman called was Trishala who has been away from her father for a long time. Sallu promised to be there for her whenever she needed him.”
A number of fans had poured out their support and good wishes on tweeter to daughter Trishala. Replying to them, Trishala wrote, "Thank you for all your prayers and concerns. Extremely tough time for me and my family...were all in shock be we have to be strong," on tweeter.
The day before his surrender, a number of his friends from the film industry visited Sanjay Dutt to express their support and good wishes. Ranbir Kapoor, David Dhawan, Fardeen Khan, Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan were all see visiting Dutt. Reportedly, Dutt had approached his special friends, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn to look after his wife Manyata and twin children Iqra and Shahraan during his 42 months prison term. He was also worried about the fate of his production house and asked the stars to look after it as Manyata may not be able to handle all the responsibilities. Both the stars have agreed to extend their full support and even agreed to star in films produced by this house if the need arises.
