On June 10th, Mumbai session court will deliver verdict on 2002 Salman Khan's hit-and-run case against the appeal filed by Bollywood actor Salman Khan challenging the magistrate's order invoking the charge of culpable homicide against him.
Sessions judge UB Hejib has been fixed for June 10th verdict after the arguments completed on Wednesday. Salman Khan was to appear in court in person for the arguments but he was exempted from appearance after his lawyer Ashok Mudargi claimed that the actor is out of town for professional commitments.
Salman has been charged with 'culpable homicide not amounting to murder' (section 304 part II IPC), Mundargi concluded the magistrate's order to be "erroneous, bad in law and contrary to evidence on record."
The actor past magistrate failed to stand up to the fact that the actor had not intentionally run over his cruiser over the people sleeping at the pavement of the street and neither he had the knowledge that his rash driving would kill a person and cause injury to four others.
If the actor is found guilty of this serious offense then he may go behind the bars for 10 years. Khan’s magistrate is trying to lesser his jail term by claiming negligence driving that will provide maximum punishment of two years.
However, 17 witnesses have been interrogated and after examining, the 47-year-old actor was found guilty of more serious offense. After thorough investigation it was found that Salman Khan knew he would kill or injure people with the speed that he was driving.
On September 28, 2002, night Salman rammed his Toyota Land Cruiser into a roadside bakery at suburban Bandra, killing one person and injuring four others who were sleeping on the pavement.
