Sanjay Dutt gets death threats

Today is the last day of Sanjay Dutt to surrender before the TADA court and the actor has appealed to the court to allow him to surrender directly before the jail authorities at the Yerwada jail, Pune following the death threats that he is receiving from fundamentalist group. In his statement, he said that his life is in danger "from vested interests and other fundamentalist groups and organizations''.
The more time that the actor seeks from SC to complete his work will over today. Before the time gets over, Sanjay asked SC to give him some more time to surrender as shooting of his films are not yet over but his review petition was rejected by SC.  Today the court will decide whether Sanjay will able to surrender directly before the jail authorities in Pune.
The apex court has also rejected the plea made by his producers to allow Sanjay some more time so that he could complete his under-production films.
On March 21, the Supreme Court upheld the actor for possessing illegal weapon and AK-56 rifle which has been used in 1993 Mumbai serial blasts that killed 257 people and injured over 700 people. On finding him guilty, SC has sentenced a jail term of five years to Sanjay Dutt but as he had already served jail term of one and a half years, now Dutt has to serve remaining three and a half years of jail term in Pune Yerwada jail.
