Spot-fixing: Vindu Dara Singh names CSK's CEO Meiyappan

The IPL match fixing scandal rocked the nation a few days ago and it seems that the investigation of the case is unearthing bigger stories every day. In a shocking turn of events, Vindoo Dara Singh, the actor was arrested on yesterday. The actor was arrested on charge of having connections with the bookies that did the match fixing in the current edition of IPL.During interrogation, Vindoo admitted being in constant touch with Meiyappa, son-in-law of Chennai Super Kings owner N Srinivasan. Meiyappan is the team principal and CEO of the Chennai Super Kings.
The 40 year old actor is charged with forgery and cheating. The local court in Mumbai allowed the investigators to keep the son of Famous Dara Singh in custody up to Friday. The court felt this is necessary for the investigators to interrogate Vindoo and get more info out him about the match fixing incidents. The police felt that the actor was not only a compulsive gambler but also helped the bookies as well.  Interrogation of Vindoo was necessary to find out people who were involved in the betting racket.
The police it seems had the correct hunch. The interrogation of the actor is successful and it is heard that he had confessed that he was in contact with a person who is a relative of an IPL team owner. According to reliable sources, the police is now tracking and checking all the calls that Vindoo made to a particular Chennai number during the past 6 months.
The bookie Ramesh Vyas who was arrested by the Mumbai police in the past week gave away the name of Vindoo Dara Singh. The bookie told police that Vindoo knew many of the powerful bookies related with the IPL match fixing scam and helped them regularly. This led to the arrest of the actor.
However, amidst all the hues and cries the family of Vindoo has stood behind him. Dina Umrova, the wife of the actor claims that her husband is innocent and states that, "My husband is innocent. He has done no wrong. He may have been friendly to some people but he is innocent. We do not even know what he has been blamed for. The Mumbai police have to say what he has done. We stand by him. He is a very decent man and well loved."
We wonder what more the investigation will unearth? The culprits who are related with the scam should be punished. Everything should be done to keep the game of cricket free from match fixing.
