John Abraham does it all for Bombay!

John Abraham is excited about ‘The Bombay Greenway’ Project, an international award-winning proposal to improve the city.  A Greenway created above and adding value to the existing railway lines, an environment-friendly transport and leisure solution could turn Bombay into a truly 21st century city in terms of green space and connectivity.

Being a huge environmentalist himself, John Abraham is very proud to support the efforts of Abraham John Architects, a multidisciplinary architecture and interiors, landscaping and urban planning firm headed by his father, Abraham John and brother Alan Abraham-
combining the strength of experience with a contemporary perspective. They have also been
working on urban planning solutions to improve Mumbai and make it a more livable, eco-friendly city through proactive initiatives such as ‘The Bombay Greenway’ Project, Winner of International Urban Planning and Design Competition, Velo-city 2013, Austria. They are excited about this project which would significantly and positively impact the lives of millions in the city on an everyday basis.
The response to this project has been great, Abraham John Architects are looking forward to meeting more like-minded people and organizations who want to support it and take it further towards implementation. It could really transform the city, and has the potential to become the single biggest urban project undertaken in Bombay post-independence.
The first proposal of the project looks at creating a brand new oxygen-generating space, catering to the leisure needs of the city as well as to active modes of transport. What's best is that it's no longer a trek to get to a garden space - it'll be accessible at the local railway station and anywhere in between. The Greenway eliminates the East-West divide by providing connectivity and accessibility, and will not only de-congest the city but will also save 4000 lives a year that are currently lost trying to cross the railway tracks. Obviously there are many added advantages like rainwater harvesting, solar power, services that could be taken along its length (electrical and gas lines, etc), faster train services, indigenous trees enhancing local biodiversity, reducing carbon footprint and heat gain on the railways, upgrading railway stations. A rentable cycle scheme would allow a person to walk, cycle and use the train to his destination. It is green, sustainable, and of course practical and beautiful.
While Abraham John and Alan Abraham are equipped with a long-term vision for the city, actor-producer and business tycoon John Abraham wants to echo their cause of re-connecting architecture with nature, making optimum use of space, natural materials and landscape to reinvent and transform living environments and urban spaces.
The Hero with a heart  John Abraham has been associated with several social causes in the past – He has intensively worked with PETA and Habitat For Humanity. Apart from that the actor, who is synonymous with fitness, raised funds for charities through the Mumbai Marathon.
The actor via his brand commitment has also associated himself with Power Light A Village, an initiative to provide solar electricity to remote villages across the country and also requested his fans to join him in the cause.
