Being Sanjay Dutt: Why a lesser man would have cracked

Being Sanjay Dutt: Why a lesser man would have cracked
In a life chequered with dark days, tough decisions and hasty mistakes of the youth, 16 May will go down in Sanjay Dutt's life as a turning point. Sanjay Dutt will have to surrender before jail authorities tomorrow .
His film career has yo-yoed between extreme highs and abysmal lows to a point that he and his career have been written off, but Baba has always managed to bounce back, however, one thing to keep in mind is that Sanjay Dutt is no more a young man and this conviction could have serious repercussions for his career - or whatever remains of it.

Turbulence in Sanjay’s life started when his mother Nargis Dutt was diagnosed with cancer. Sanjay was 21-year-old at that point of time. Things got worst when the star lost his mother a few weeks before the release of his first film ‘Rocky’ in 1981. Unable to cope with the situation, the actor found solace in drugs

Reportedly, he went to a rehabilitation centre in the US and came out as a new person all together. He tied the knot with Richa Sharma in 1987. The couple has a daughter Trishala. While 1987 to 1992 was a good phase for Dutt, things started going downhill as his wife Richa was diagnosed with cancer. The couple parted ways and Richa went to the US.

Things settled down and gradually life became easier for Sanjay Dutt, but in 1993 the Mumbai blasts rocked the star's world. He was arrested on charges of keeping illegal weapons, but was later released on bail. After coming out of the jail, his life completely changed and he became focused in life. But the misery in his life didn't come to end. He had to battle out for the custody of his daughter with his in-laws in the court after his first wife died in 1996. Unfortunately, he lost the case.

Sanjay later married model Rhea Pillai in 1998 and within a few years of their marriage, rumours of their separation had started surfacing. Their marriage lasted for about seven years, and Sanjay and Rhea divorced in 2005.  After that he was not found involved in any controversy, in fact, he became focused and gave many hit films. When everything was going right, troubles entered his life again when his father Sunil Dutt died in 2005. The period between 2006–2007 saw Dutt spend 7 months in Arthur Road Prison and Pune prison on three occasions for arms offences, although in 2006 Dutt was finally acquitted of any TADA-related offenses but was charged under the illegal possession of arms act. After a period of time, Sanjay regained his lost stardom and tied the knot with Manyata in 2008. The couple has two kids.

Now when the star is at the peak of his career, miseries have again entered his life. Sanjay, who has already spent 1.5 years in jail, will spend 3.5 years more in prison.
He will surrender tomorrow at Yerwada Jail.
Though things have started going wrong again, but like a true superstar, he is expected to make a comeback.
