After being flooded
with overwhelming love, support and fan frenzy during his stunning New
York premiere appearance, Bollywood superstar and our very own global
icon Amitabh Bachchan has bowled over the difficult to please critics of
Hollywood for his performance in Baz Lurhman’s highly anticipated ‘The
Great Gatsby’.
After an elegant and classy night during the NYC ‘The Great Gatsby’
premiere catching up with the entire cast and crew including Leonardo
and and Tobey Maguire, Big B, we hear has garnered praise from a reputed
magazine, the most important trade paper of Hollywood.
Scott Fundas, one of Hollywood’s most revered film critics has
written in the magazine’ review heaping positive words for our
superstar, by saying, “By far the liveliest work in the film comes from
two actors with only a few minutes of screen time between them: the
lithe, long-limbed newcomer Elizabeth Debicki as gabby golf pro Jordan
Baker, and, in a single scene that marks his belated Hollywood debut,
Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan as the flamboyant Jewish ‘gambler’,
Meyer Wolfsheim.”
Most other critics such as The Hollywood Reporter's Todd McCarthy
was also positive, describing it as the film that ‘feels vibrantly alive
while remaining quite faithful to the spirit, if not the letter or the
tone, of its source’.
Well as India celebrates 100 years of cinema this month, one of the
country’s biggest movie icon winning hearts worldwide yet again is just
pleasing to hear.
