The lovely and brave Lisa Ray who married Jason Coulton on October 20, 20012 is still in the honeymoon phase of her life.
Says Lisa ecstatically, “At the risk of nazar can I say he is
almost perfect? If I knew marriage could be so much fun and at the same
time so authentic and supportive, maybe I would have explored it
earlier. But I think I feel this because I am with the man who is
perfect for me.”
Lisa and Jason don’t follow marital rules. “We have decided to make
up our own rules. We still travel a lot, miss each other, but
ultimately support each other. We are not conventional people interested
in settling into a conventional lifestyle which society has created.
Every day we communicate about our hopes, desires, fears and promise
each other not to stagnate.”
Marriage has made Lisa mellower, more reflective and impulsive.
“Marriage has given me permission to balance my life. After living in
the public eye for more than 20 years, I love finding balance and lots
of private pleasures with my husband from travel to new experiences, to
just enjoying each other's company. I have also been travelling to
healing centres like the Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida and
educating myself about nutrition, eating live food and reducing
inflammation in the body as a path to heal. I'm becoming an expert in
this area and living the lifestyle.”
An added perk in this sparkling marriage of two nomadic souls is
the fact that Jason gets along famously with his Bengali father-in-law.
“Jason gets along so well with my dad. As he lost his dad a few years
ago, I feel he has been looking for a father figure to spend time with
and learn from. When I'm travelling Jason and my dad hang out together
and even go to movies together! My father is also a free thinker who is
very knowledgeable about our Bengali culture as well as global events
and they have passionate discussions.”
A trip to India is on the cards, though the news of the couple buying residential property is at the moment, premature.
Says the rapturous wife, “Jason is extremely interested in India.
We will be making a visit this year. Aside from being deeply interested
in the culture and glamorous aspects he is interested in meditation and
spirituality. In fact, we have a meditation room in our home.”
Now Lisa is doing a play with Kabir Bedi. “Yes, I am in rehearsals
with Kabir Bedi for our play entitled Taj which we will be performing
around Canada in the fall due to great demand.”
Acting remains an abiding passion. “I still love acting and will begin looking at opportunities after taking a break.”
Lisa who fought and overcame cancer cancer is very happy for
Manisha Koirala for doing the same. “I am very pleased Manisha has heard
those magical words from her doctors: cancer free.
I believe she has a strong spirit which is an important ingredient in healing.”
Lisa’s advice to Manisha, “I would say say, continue doing what you
have been doing all along. Your deeper wisdom will guide you.”
Lisa endorses her own range of Sari collection whose profits partly go into cancer research.
“I’m launching my limited edition sari line LisaRay4SatyaPaul in
Canada on May 23rd. It will be available in Bombay, Delhi and the
Toronto store as well as online. A portion of the sales will go to
support Multiple Myeloma research in Canada. This is a very significant
line for me.”
Lisa’s yoga studio is two years old now. “My yoga studio Moksha
Yoga Brampton will be celebrating its second anniversary at the end of
May. We are gearing up for those celebrations. Oh, and I'm being
featured in this weekend in a multimedia exhibition which explores
music, culture, sports and arts in Canada called the CBC 'Canada Lives
Here' image for Hall of Stars.”
Lisa and India remain inextricably connected.
“While I have been taking care of myself away from the spotlight-
as per Jason's orders- rest assured I cannot stay away from my source of
inspiration for long. I will most likely be visiting India in June for
Rado watch promotions and to catch up with friends,” she signs off
happily.
