Ranbir fails to declare goods at airport, fined Rs. 60,000

Actor Ranbir Kapoor was detained at the Mumbai airport and fined Rs. 60,000 on undeclared branded personal goods he was carrying from London, on Saturday. According to a customs official, Kapoor had not declared goods worth Rs. 1 lakh. Customs officials said Ranbir arrived at around
12.30 am by a British Airways flight and was walking out through the restricted section when he was stopped by an Air Intelligence Unit batch headed by deputy commissioner of customs. Passengers carrying goods above the permitted customs limits should go through the Red Channel.
Ranbir, reportedly, told officials that he did not know that there was duty on goods meant for personal use and that this was the first time he had been stopped. The actor was allowed to leave after he paid the duty.
Commissioner of Customs, airport, PM Saleem confirmed the incident.
A spokesperson for Ranbir, however, said the actor did not face any problem at the airport and he was not carrying any undeclared goods.
