A source close to the mega-star says Rajnikanth was all set to leave when he saw the trailer of his film ‘Kochadaiyaan’ which was to release at Cannes. One look at the end-product, and Rajni decided to can the Cannes plans. “Rajni Sir didn’t like the trailer that was prepared. He told the team to re-do the entire footage keeping in mind this was his comeback film after three years. But it was too late,” informs a source.
Rubbishing reports that Rajnikanth was unable to travel to Cannes with the trailer of the eagerly-awaited ‘Kochadaiyaan’ due to frail health the film’s co-producer Murli Manohar says, “We don’t know who is spreading these rumours about Rajniji’s health. He recovered fully from his illness a year ago. Now he is as healthy as you or me. Attempts to portray him as being unhealthy are unhealthy attempts to bring down Rajniji’s immense equity.”
It is the mega-star’s awesome star-power that forced the cancellation of the trailer launch of ‘Kochadaiyaan’ in Cannes.
Explains the co-producer, “We had readied a version of the trailer for Cannes. Then our director Aishwarya Dhanush (Rajnikanth’s daughter) felt the trailer could be much slicker and better .So we started working on another version of the trailer. Unfortunately that couldn’t be readied in time for Cannes. So rather than do a rush job we decided to cancel the Cannes launch of the trailer.”
Dr Murli has no regrets about the missed opportunity. “There will be several other opportunities to launch our trailer in the coming months. Our trailer would be ready in about ten days.”
Reiterating that Rajnikanth is completely fit to fly Dr Murli says, “He flew from Chennai to attend Mr Bachchan’s birthday party in October. Why would he not fly to Cannes? The truth is, we want to take Indian cinema to another level with ‘Kochadaiyaan’. The film requires tremendous labour and skills to get the special effects in place. Rajniji’s fans know what he is capable of. They can’t be happy with anything but the best.”
