Why did Akki cast Nargis Fakhri in his Shaukeen remake?

After dropping the 'Rockstar' actress from his earlier production 'Khiladi 786', Akki has apparently signed Nargis for his new film

Nargis Fakhri is finally fulfilling her dream of working with Akshay Kumar. She features opposite the star in Rumi Jaffrey's remake of Basu Chatterjee's '80s film Shaukeen. The Khiladi apparently is keeping his promise of acting with Nargis in a film.

Strangely, it was Akshay himself who was allegedly responsible for her missed opportunity of working with him in Khiladi 786. Nargis was dropped from the film that Akshay co-produced with Himesh Reshammiya even though she had signed a three-film deal with the star's production house.

Last-minute change

Says a source, `Nargis had to let go Khiladi 786 just days before the shooting began and Asin was roped in as a replacement. It was Akshay who took the call as he, at that time, felt her managing agency was too highhanded and made too many demands.

As a result, he decided not to include her in his film or work with anyone associated with the agency.` Adds the source, `Nargis still continues to be associated with the same agency. But it looks like Akshay has now done a rethink. The issues that he had earlier seemed to have disappeared.`

Fair play

Interestingly, when Nargis was dropped from Khiladi 786, the story that did the rounds was that she was found to be too `fair and attractive` to play sister to Mithun Chakraborty. Strangely when they cast Asin to play the part, the `fair and attractive` tag did not arise.`

As they say anything is possible in Bollywood as long as Nargis fulfills her dream and Akki keeps his word. In the remake of Shaukeen, Nargis will reprise the role of Rati Agnihotri in the original while Akshay steps into Mithun Chakraborty's role. Akshay and Nargis remained unavailable for comment.
