'Punarvivaah': Rubina Dilaik calls it quits

`Punarvivaah`: Rubina Dilaik calls it quits

It has been barely two months after her Zee TV show 'Punarvivaah... Ek Nayi Umeed' has gone on air, and the lead actress Rubina Dilaik has already made plans to move on from the show.

Rubina who plays the role of Divya, has put in her papers and taken a decision to move on.

Sources inform that Rubina was not happy with the way her onscreen character Divya was shaping up in the show.

So the actress decided to speak to the production house and after a long discussion, the actress and the production house amicably ended their association.

"The show was narrated to me as being Divya's show, a show of a television actress whose real life love story was to be depicted on the screen. However, after a week, things did not seem to go the way that was narrated to me, " said Rubina.

"Recently, I was even kept out of the Maha-Sangam episode yet I was promoting the show from my end."

On her association with the channel, Rubina said, " I am indebted to the channel for whatever it has done for me. I have a long association with the channel and their team has always paved a way for my entry into the show, as well kept me in the forefront when it came to marketing and promoting the show.

"The channel was always keen on having me in the show and I really thank them for it but somewhere down the line, the writers could not put me in the correct place of the story.`

Even after deciding to quit the show, Rubina has no hard feelings for the production house.

She said, "Nevertheless, it is the best production house I have worked with so far. They are very humble people and I really appreciate the fact that they called me for a meeting and things got mutually settled."

Luxury of films not available for TV actors

Luxury of films not available for TV actors

Kavita Kaushik, who has recently made a comeback to comedy show "F.I.R.", believes a TV actor's life is tougher than that of a film actor.

"There are so many problems in a TV actor's life. There is no choreographer, so we have to do everything ourselves and that too in just a few minutes. This is the beauty of TV," the 32-year-old said here on location of "F.I.R."

"People hold films higher (in higher regard) than TV. But I would say that TV actors do things in a few minutes, catch characters quickly and do scenes in minutes... and that too eight to nine scenes daily. The luxury of films is not available here. So we do everything ourselves in very little time," she added.

Kavita became popular with the role of Inspector Chandramukhi Chautala in "F.I.R.". She had quit the show in January, and featured in a new show "Tota Weds Maina", which went off air April.

Now she is back on "F.I.R.".

The actress hopes to play a journalist on screen someday.

"I haven't played a journalist. I also want to ask 'Kaisa lag raha hai' (How are you feeling)... so I haven't played a journalist which I might play soon. There are a lot of other roles also which I haven't done," Kavita said.

Kavita will be seen in an item number in the upcoming remake of 1973 film "Zanjeer".

Big B has apparently requested the makers of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' to reduce the episodes of the upcoming season as well as change the venue

He might be one of the busiest actors around but he, too, takes caution when needed. As per Amitabh Bachchan's request, the upcoming season of Kaun Banega Crorepati will have limited episodes and will be shot in Yash Raj Studios instead of Film City.

A unit hand says, `Last year it was hectic for Big B as well as for the crew as two episodes had to be shot in a day. This time around, he has asked us to slow down because of his health.`

After his stomach surgery last year and early this year, Bachchan has not taken up too much work. He's keeping a check on his health as he recently complained of backache and opted for endoscopy too.

`We have decided to do only 36 episodes and for his convenience we are going to change the location of the shoot, ` the source adds. Says Bachchan, `Yes, I believe that the set is now at Yash Raj. It is convenient for everyone to travel as Film City is very far.`

However, Sneha Rajani, business head of the channel, maintains, `We are going to shoot in Yash Raj Studios not due to his health as he does not say no to anything nor does he interfere in anything. We are shooting in Yash Raj for better facilities. We wanted to shift the location for the past two years but it was not available.`

Tussle brewing: TV channel sets a deadline for Karan Johar

Tussle brewing: TV channel sets a deadline for Karan Johar

The busy filmmaker Karan Johar's long- delayed chat show has to air by the year-end

His commitments as a filmmaker and now also as an actor (in Anurag Kashyap's upcoming film) along with his presence as a judge in a dance reality show, has put Karan Johar's chat show on the backburner. However the channel, who has been waiting for yet another season of the show for long, is now keen that the celebrity host keep his word before the year-end.

Says a source close to the channel, `Karan is committed to another season which has to go on air this year. The channel is looking at December or early January depending upon the number of episodes he can bank if he starts shooting by November.`

Adds the source, `He was to return with a new season long back. Last year, he was tied up with Student Of The Year and kept pushing back his chat show but judged reality shows for other channels.` KJo's show first aired in 2004 and had a second season in 2007. It returned for a third outing in November 2010 which ended in April 2011.

The source continues. `It has been over two years that the channel is waiting for his next season. Karan wants everything his way and accordingly the planning is going on quietly. Karan has been multi-tasking of late and is not getting enough time of late.`

Apparently as his show has been kept on hold, it is also affecting their programming lineup for other shows. KJo remained unavailable for comment.

Cooking is therapeutic, says telly actor Shashank Vyas

Cooking is therapeutic, says telly actor Shashank Vyas

Watching movies is my favourite past-time. I love the idea of curling up at home and watching films back to back

I enjoy romantic and comedy films. Cooking is another passion of mine. In fact, it is quite therapeutic.

I feel that knowing to cook is a life skill and its fun too. I am good at making Indian and Chinese dishes. Sometimes, I call my friends over and we unwind over films and dinner. I also enjoy listening to music.

The old songs of Kishore Kumar are my favourite. I am a home-loving person and prefer being at home instead of going out and partying.

Karan-Surbhi get romantic

Karan-Surbhi get romantic

While the lead pair of Zee TV's hit serial 'Qubool Hai' - Karan Singh Grover (Asad) and Surbhi Jyoti (Zoya) - might have gone their separate ways in the show, this Thursday sees them reunite once again as romance blossoms between the pair in a dream sequence on the Mahasangam of 'Qubool Hai', 'Connected Hum Tum' and 'Punarvivaah'.

After weeks of having to give each other the cold shoulder and enacting scenes of separation, the actors welcomed a change in tempo with open arms.

`This romantic act was such a welcome change. After our characters have had to go through such turbulent ups and downs onscreen, with each scene ending in tears of angst, this performance could not have come at a better time.

I happen to love the song 'Teri meri prem kahani'. It gives me goose bumps and is on my playlist of romantic songs which I listen to almost every two days," said Surbhi about shooting for the sequence.

"I know that viewers are going to draw parallels to Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor when they see this song but I think Karan and I have done justice to the track. Given the situation that our characters are in at the moment, this song is perfect!` she said.

This special dream sequence is a part of the Mahasangam episode.

Making a special appearance in this episode of 'Qubool Hai', 'Connected Hum Tum' and 'Punarvivaah', is actor Imran Khan who plays the character of Aslam in 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbai 2'.

The actor has shot for a dance number to the famous song 'Taiyab Ali' with Surbhi.
