I was an aggressive teenager: Kirron Kher

Actress Kirron Kher has revealed that during her teens she was aggressive, never took harassment lightly and even slapped a boy once for troubling her.

During a chat with comedian Kapil Sharma on his show "Comedy Nights with Kapil", Kirron threw light on her teen days. The 58- year-old mentioned that if any man harrased her, she would give him a taste of his own medicine, said a statement.

Kirron narrated an incident that happened in a theatre back then. A boy nudged her and she immediately turned around and slapped him.

Kirron has acted in movies like "Sardari Begum", "Bariwali", "Devdas", "Dostana" and "Main Hoon Na".

Known for playing strong characters on screen, she said that if anyone tried to eve-tease her, she would not leave him without replying back.

I like Advani more than Modi: Shatrughan

Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha Tuesday said he favoured BJP leader L.K. Advani over Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

"I like Advani more than Modi, " the Bharatiya Janata Party's Lok Sabha member from Patna Saheb in Bihar told the media here.

Sinha, who is known for his frankness, expressed unhappiness over the sidelining Advani in the party and its decision making process.

"It was wrong to sidelined Advani. It will not help the party."

Sinha described Advani as a godfather of the BJP. "It is not good for the health of the party."

At the same time, he said there was no one bigger or more popular than former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the BJP.

I want to surprise people: Arjun Rampal

Arjun Rampal is no longer referred as a non-actor, thanks to well-acclaimed films like "Rock On", "Rajneeti" and "Chakravyuh" which brought his talent and versatility to the fore.

The actor believes he has finally found his space in the industry. "Everybody wants to surprise people..I too want to do that. I think films like 'Rock On', 'Rajneeti', 'Chakravyuh', 'Inkaar' turned out to be good for me.

Prakash Jha thinks I am the most versatile actor in the industry. I think I can never say no to him even if he has two-three lines for me to say in his film. And so is the case with Abhishek Kapoor, " Arjun told in an interview here.

From walking the ramp as a model to winning a national award as an actor, Arjun has come a long way since his debut with "Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat" in 2001. In between were a string of flops like "Dil Ka Rishta", "Asambhav", "Yakeen" and "Ajnabee" among others. His breakthrough came with the remake version of "Don".

Thereafter he was part of successful films like "Rock On" which fetched him the national award. Then he teamed up with filmmaker Prakash Jha for films like "Rajneeti", "Chakravyuh" and upcoming "Satyagraha". His latest release "D Day" has been received positively.

"I think I have made a space for myself in the industry. I think that recognition has come... otherwise I wouldn't be getting to play interesting parts. There is a belief that people have in me today. I want to create a market for myself, which will engage and entertain people; they will not be dry and boring, " the 40-year-old actor said.



Arjun feels the time he entered the industry was the right one, as he learnt a lot during his ups and downs. "It takes time when you are an outsider and don't know industry, don't know what works and are relying on other people's opinion. But then you make up your own mind as what you want to do. I started discovering that after films like "Om Shanti Om", "Rock On" and "Rajneeti" etc.."

"These are the kind of films that will transform and become characters. These films entertain, participate, engage people and that for me is entertaining, " he added. Arjun is celebrating the success of "D Day". "I am relieved. The film took a slow start but it was encouraging to see a great jump over the weekend.

I am looking forward to see how the audience will react this week as word of mouth is extraordinary. We did have a special screening for industry people and are getting positive response, " Arjun said. Nikhil Advani's last few films like 'Patiala House', "Chandni Chowk To China" and "Salaam-e-Ishq" bombed at the box-office but this did not deter Arjun from working with him.

"For Nikhil, to do a film like this was a challenge...But he was clear what he wanted and he worked hard for it. He took interest, gave us all the research material, " he said.

Mob vandalised film sets in Udaipur: Pooja Bhatt

A mob sought to vandalise the sets of Bollywood film producer Pooja Bhatt's under-production movie during its shooting near a prison in Rajasthan's Udaipur town Tuesday, police said

A police officer in Udaipur said that the film's shooting was taking place near the premises of the Udaipur Central Jail where the people tried to vandalise the movie sets.

"Prison guards and policemen later forced the mob to leave the venue. First information reports (FIRs) will be registered against the protestors, " said the officer.

Bhatt alleged that these men vendalised the shooting venue and tried to damage property while supporting an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer whom she had accused of misbehaving with her and manhandling her film crew three days earlier.

The shooting of her movie "Bad" is taking place in Udaipur, some 400 km from Jaipur.

"Some 50-75 people barged into Central Jail Udaipur shouting slogans against me and threatening to shut down my shoot, " she tweeted after the incident.



On Saturday, Bhatt accused IPS officer Hari Prasad Sharma, deputed as superintendent of police (SP) in Udaipur, of manhandling her film crew after he was asked for an identification card when entering his office in the district collectorate where the shooting was taking place.

After the incident, Bhatt Sunday wrote to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, demanding action against Sharma.

The protestors who barged into the movie sets on Tuesday were supporting the police officer and said the film producer and her crew misbehaved with Sharma when he was entering his office for some important government work.

"Pooja Bhatt blew the matter out of proportion. She has Twitter and many other platforms to express herself. The police officer didn't have a chance to tell his side of story. We would not allow this thing to happen, " said a protestor.

Pooja Bhatt tweeted after the incident Tuesday, " (I) have resumed work but unfortunately one of the constables was injured while trying to disperse the mob. How can this behaviour be condoned?"

Never planned to be an actress: Neha Hinge

Former Miss India International Neha Hinge is all excited and geared up as her debut film 'Luv U Soniyo' gets ready to hit the silver screen on July 26.

The actress said, `Entering the industry was never the plan and it happened by chance.`

In the film she has been cast opposite yesteryear actress Rati Agnihotri's son Tanuj Virwani.

Giving her Bollywood credit to Mahur Bhandarkar, Neha said that the ace director had seen her at a beauty contest and recommended her to Joe Rajan for 'Luv U Soniyo'.

Neha also admitted that winning a beauty pageant has helped her in grabbing the film, by giving her a massive platform.

In the film, she plays the title role of a Punjabi girl 'Soniyo' who is upbeat, lively and carries positive energy.

Neha said every girl will be able to relate to the character.

"I took time to say yes to this project as the director was new, ` she said.

Neha also said that she just couldn't have let go of an opportunity where her character's name appears in the film title.

I do a lot of reading in between shots and also when I am travelling. I have read all genres of books. From romantic novels to racy thrillers and suspense: I love books.

Erich Segal is one of my favourite. I just love the way he writes about the myriad emotions associated with love. My life is incomplete without books.

People would have thought that it was easy for an actor to portray the role of a theatre actor but that's not the case.

Also, the song Saadi Galli Aaja was vastly different from Paani Da Rang so singing it was not a cakewalk. I am glad that people loved the number.

`We guess that you too want to the best of both worlds, acting and singing just like some of your peers.

Sanjay Dutt is a very humble man: Prachi Desai

Actress Prachi Desai is grateful to have shared the screen space with Sanjay Dutt while filming "Policegiri"

"It was very nice working with Sunjay Dutt. He is a humble man and a very good person, " says 24-year-old Desai who was seen romancing Dutt in the film. Dutt is currently in Yervada jail serving his sentence in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts.

Desai shot to fame with Balaji Telefilm's 'Kasamh Se' and debuted to the big screen opposite Farhan Akhtar in 2008 movie "Rock On".



"The 'Rock On' break came after my stint in 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa'. I would love be a part of the sequel, " Desai said.

Having performed some action sequence in "Policegiri", Desai, who was in the city to promote Hindustan Unilever's brand Pureit, said she is keen to add variety to her roles other than doing romantic movies.

Desai is particular about her looks, and is glad that curves are in. "I am glad that curves are in. Youth should not blindly follow trends and standard, you need to first crack what is your body type, once you get that right, then you will like experimenting, " said Desai said.

Aamir made my journey richer: Kiran Rao

Filmmaker Kiran Rao says she is lucky to have met people like her husband, actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan and director Anand Gandhi who have enriched her journey and have made it more layered.

"I feel fortunate that I have got opportunities to meet people like Anand Gandhi (director of 'Ship Of Theseus'), Aamir and different, different technicians. Due to this my growth and journey has become more rich and layered," Rao told reporters Tuesday at the press conference of recently released "Ship Of Theseus" here.

"So, definitely I feel myself to be lucky," she added.

Kiran met Aamir on the sets of 2001 film "Lagaan" and they got married in 2005.

As a director, Kiran first assisted on films like "Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India", "Monsoon Wedding", "Saathiya" and "Swades" and turned full-fledged director with Aamir starrer "Dhobi Ghat" in 2011.

Currently, she is enjoying the response that Gandhi's "Ship of Theseus" is getting, which she released in collaboration with UTV Motion Pictures.

Now that your international single Exotic - featuring American rapper Pitbull is topping music charts worldwide, tell us what makes you exotic?
I think every part of me is exotic.

Which Indian singers inspire you?
There are a lot of people who I like in terms of their voices and music. I love Alisha Chinoi and Shreya (Ghosal). There are also a lot of guys I like (as singers).

What quality do you look in a singer when it comes to picking a favourite?
I love voices that have interesting tones.


Now that you have set a trend in Bollywood with your international singles, do you think other Indian actresses will also come up with similar ventures?
I hope so ... if they can sing. In India, our culture is that we actors don't have to sing for our movies. We have done it for 100 years and it has been very successful. So it's fine.

But then, there are a lot of actors who have doubled it (as singer) like Mr (Amitabh) Bachchan, Abhishek (Bachchan). There are so many people in Bollywood who have tried it, done it and it was fun. But then, I don't think we should put in that pressure of singing our own playback, especially when it is going on so well without us singing for ourselves.

What does you family have to say about your experimentations?
My family is my spine. My family is always supportive as long as I am honest to who I am. I am not someone who is pretentious or someone who has double standards, nor I am a hypocrite. If I do something, I do it with conviction, or else I don't do it.


Don, Don 2, Agneepath, Shootout at Wadala and now Zanjeer, you seem to have a fascination for gangster film.
Who is not fascinated with gangster films? I love gangster films. And it's not just limited to Bollywood. Have you seen the amount of gangster movies made in Hollywood? Victory of good over evil is the oldest and the most interesting tales that you can tell anyone. Movies are all about entertainment and I am in the business, so why not?

You are the damsel in distress in Krrish 3. How was the experience of being a part of the sequel to Krrish (2006)?
Well, I am a superhero's lady in the film, so I felt like a super girl all the time while shooting for Krrish 3; more so, if you would have seen my schedule, you would have known that only a super girl could accomplish that. I am hoping big on this film. Be it the VFX (visual effects) we used in this film, or the soulful story, I am sure Krrish 3 will be a huge step forward for Indian cinema.


You are building muscles for a biopic on Indian boxer Mary Kom.
Yes, and now no one can dare mess with me. Jokes apart, every year I want to do a film that will encourage me as a human being. Mary Kom will be such a film. As everyone knows the film is inspired by Mary Kom who is a really sweet person. I have met her several times and no one will believe that this girly girl is a tough boxer inside the ring.

Please don't compare me with Sunny Leone: Poonam Pandey

Controversy queen Poonam Pandey, ready for her Bollywood innings with bold project "Nasha", is fed up of being compared to Indo -Canadian porn star Sunny Leone.

"I am tired of this comparison. I don't know why people compare me with Sunny Leone. I'm here to act and you will see me acting in the film. There are intimate scenes in the film, but there is also a love story. I'm not a porn star. Please don't compare me with Sunny Leone," Poonam said here.



Poonam, who grabbed headlines during the 2011 Cricket World Cup when she offered to go nude before Team India if they won the trophy, is confident that audiences will be satisfied with her performance in "Nasha".

"So far people have only seen my bold pictures, now they will see me acting in 'Nasha', and I assure they will be completely satisfied with my performance in the film," added the young actress, who keeps her fans abreast with her daily activities through online networking platforms.


Directed by Amit Saxena, "Nasha" features debutant Shivam opposite Poonam Pandey. The film is produced by Surender Suneja and Aditya Bhatia under the banner of Eagle Home Entertainment. The film is slated for release July 26.

I'm definitely not going to blindly marry any guy: Asin

Away from the arc lights
I told my manager and team that I needed a holiday. No shooting, no appearances and no noise for some time. I just packed my bags and took off to completely cut off from this world. It was a random decision.

I have been working since my early teens, and felt that I need to get a life (laughs out loud). After the Tamil Ghajini became a blockbuster, I didn't take up anything for a few months. That patch was followed by successive hits.

The talk about the 'disappearing act' has followed me throughout my career. You see, for all the speculations and theories that fly around that time, you just smile and move on with your life the way you want to live it.


Age no bar
My selection of projects is not based on criteria like an actor's age. If a project sounds good in totality, I take it up. And coming to your question, it would be fun to work with younger actors as well.

I am happy with the kind of films I have done so far. I am glad that I am a 'heroine'. Yes, I am yet to find a role in Bollywood that gives me scope to perform or gives me creative satisfaction as an artist.


Bollywood vs Kollywood
There are cultural differences, which invariably reflect in working styles and expectations. I could probably do a thesis on it (laughs out loud). There are so many similarities and differences.

Let's just say balancing both the cultures is a tight ropewalk and I am grateful for having been accepted both in Bollywood and South Indian film industry.


Love or arranged marriage?
I have an open mind. You never know when the right person comes into your life. Friends, parents or just chance encounters can introduce him to you. But that will be the extent of it, initial introduction.

Whether I will end up marrying that person depends on compatibility, chemistry and understanding. I'm definitely not going to blindly marry someone with none of the above.
