Amitabh Bachchan’s Hollywood debut ‘The Great Gatsby’ world premiere was held in New York and the megastar walk the red carpet with wife Jaya Bachchan.
Big B wrote on his Facebook page: "Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou ... for the wishes and the support this evening .. we are a wonderful extended family .."
Big B is playing the role of Meyer Wolfsheim, a shady Jew who serves as a mentor to the film's central character, he wrote on Twitter: "Tonight is the night" .. wasn't there a song by this name .. well here in NYC its the Gatsby Premier, red carpet at 6 pm .. and anxious to see the film finally .. more that than any other ..."
Amitabh Bachchan got emotional and he thanked everyone for their support and love. He further wrote: "I really have no words to express my gratitude to all of you that cheered in virtual world, and on the streets of NYC .. indebted !!" (AP) - See more at:
Few days back a poster of the movie was launched where Big B was seen wearing a hat. As Amitabh got down from the car, there was a huge noise, everyone thought that Hollywood star Leonardo Dicaprio arrived but it was actually Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan. The crowd went berserk to see Big B in their city.
"Back from The Great Gatsby premiere and has to be said... the EF (extended family) was the main attraction. Simply superb! American media, fans, security in shock. Thank you my ED, and thank you to those that cheered their lungs out. US media thought Leonardo had come, when noise went up," Big B tweeted post his "fantastic" experience.
Apart from Amitabh Bachchan, the movie also stars Tobey Maguire and Leonardo Di Caprio. The film will also be premiered at the Cannes film festival and Big B will join the ‘The Great Gatsby’ team there too.
