Sooraj Pancholi pleas in High Court for bail

After a sessions court rejected bail plea of Sooraj Pancholi, son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zareena Wahab, Sooraj’s lawyers have approached High Court pleading for his bail. On Wednesday Sooraj’s lawyers moved to High Court.
Sooraj was arrested on 10th June from his residence after he was alleged of abetting Jiah Khan to suicide.
On June 21st, sessions court saw the files of Jiah Khan suicide case. The letters that were found from Jiah’s place and the statement of Jiah’s mother clearly stated that Jiah was tortured physically and emotionally by Sooraj. The judge also told that it seemed from the evidences that Sooraj had an important role in pushing her to depression. So the sessions court rejected his bail plea.
Sooraj's lawyers Ashok Mundergi and Shrikant Shivde told that the initial report lodged by the Juhu police stated that the report of the suicide of the actress was a Accidental Death Report (ADR). It was only a week later that Jiah’s mother produced the letters allegedly written by Jiah. According to them Sooraj is being implicated in this case. They called Jiah’s letters as “after thought”.
The lawyers also argue that the police is using the six page letter as a dying declaration to falsely implicate Sooraj. They argue that the letters neither mentions Sooraj’s name nor are they dated.
The High Court will hear the petition on 5th July.
Presently Sooraj is lodged in the Arthur Road Central Jail. Also the judicial custody of the aspiring actor has been extended till 11th July. It is believed that Sooraj’s release would dampen investigations and since the case is in a critical state, he is not able to get a bail.
On 3rd June Jiah committed suicide in her apartment at around 11pm. Few days after her suicide, Jiah’s mother produced a six page letter which she alleged was written by the late actress. The letter revealed the pain and suffering that Jiah went through while she was in a relationship. She also went through an abortion. The letter blamed the boy in her life of causing her physical torture and of cheating on her.
After this letter was found, Sooraj was arrested. From Sooraj’s residence also, few letters were found and were signed as Nafisa Khan. Jiah’s original name was Nafisa Khan. However the letter found from Jiah’s residence and those found from Sooraj’s residence find difference in their handwritings. The investigation about the authenticity of the Jiah Khan’s letters is also on the way.
