Sridevi rocks in her comeback movie 'English Vinglish'

Sridevi has charmed everyone, especially the critics, who had a preview of the movie on Wednesday. Rajiv Masand of IBNlive said, “English Vinglish is so charming...formulaic but feel-good. Has a big beating heart at its centre, and that’s Sridevi, who's just terrific

The story of the movie revolves around a middle class Indian woman. She manages her family efficiently and also runs a business of ladoos from her home. But for all her abilities, she is ridiculed by her family for not being fluent in English. The westernized Indian family fails to understand her qualities. Then suddenly her life changes, when she has to leave Pune and go to New York to help her elder sister in her daughter’s wedding. She secretly joins an English teaching class there. She also meets a French cook there, who admires her a lot.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh says , “One needs to applaud the endeavor because films like Paan Singh Tomar, Kahaani, Vicky Donor, GOW 1 and 2, Barfi!, also last week's OMG - Oh My God! and now English Vinglish, hi-concept films all, take the unconventional route, yet enlighten and entertain, both. Sure, masala movies are great fun, but a film like English Vinglish breaks the monotony, shatters the unwritten rules of the game and scores brownie points. Cinema is rapidly changing and one can connect with viewers across the globe even without making the usual mainstream Hindi movie. English Vinglish proves it!”

The script of the movie has been interwoven very carefully by director Gauri Shinde. It’s her debut movie as a director, but it seems she knows her craft quite well.
Audiences too have liked the movie. Some said, “A must watch film for every family!”
While some have said, “me too waiting this week for going to the first show of Sridevi after 15years for just Sridevi n her English Vinglish, she is a great actress.”
