Abhishek to star in Shahrukh Khan's film

If all goes according to plan, you can next see SRK sharing screen space with none other than Abhishek Bachchan

The relationship between SRK and Abhishek had been somewhat strained because of his uneasy equation with Aishwariya Rai. Differences arose between SRK and Aishwariya when she abruptly left the cast of Chalte chalte. As a result, Shah Rukh was not included in the guest list of the wedding of Ash and Abhi in 2007.
However, the two stars did work together in Kabhi Alvida naa Kehna. Now it seems choreographer turned director Farah Khan will again bring the two stars together in her next project Happy New Year.
This film of Farah Khan was in the pipeline for quite few years and Shah Rukh was finalized for it. However, there were several rumors regarding the other characters in the movie. It now seems that Farah has approached Abhishek Bachchan, though no official confirmation has yet been given. If this clicks, then it will definitely be the end of a needless bad blood in Bollywood.
There were also a lot of speculation about the leading lady of the film and several names were suggested at different times. Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone were considered for the lead role while Anushka Sharma was also mentioned. But it now seems that it is Katrina Kaif who has been finalized for the role. Kat has earlier worked with Farah Khan in Tees Maar Khan. Her recent work in Jab Tak Hai Jaan opposite SRK has shown that the chemistry between the pair is strong. Since Farah is interested in re-creating this romantic fervor, Kat has been roped in as the leading lady.
The project has been pending for a long time as Farah could not be happy with the casting. However, she always had SRK in mind. She had already worked with him in Om Shanti Om and Main hoon naa and was eager to repeat the experience. Happy New Year will be directed by Farah Khan, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and its music is by Vishal Shekhar. The plot of the story revolves round a group of friends who has to take part in a dance competition and how this changes their relationships. It is being said that Boman Irani and Prithviraj Sukumaran will also appear in the film.
