Alcohol destroyed my acting career, Dharmendra

Super star and action hero of yesteryears Dharmendra

Dharmendra gets candid in an interview and confronts that alcoholism destroyed his career. He is playing his second stint in Bollywood and is experimenting with different roles. During the promotion of his movie Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 in Delhi, the actor said,” I don't drink these days. I had destroyed myself as an actor with my drinking habit in the past. I believe in humanity now and have learnt the business of film making. We three (Sunny, Bobby and I) worked really hard for this film. We are leaving no stone un-turned for the promotions”.
77 years old Dharmendra seems full of energy and enthusiasm after leaving alcohol in 2011 after he faced several health issues. These days he is busy promoting his upcoming film’ Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ where this action hero is playing a comedy role. Dharmendra is also the producer of this movie. Dharmendra is acting in this movie along with his two sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol respectively. This movie is a sequel of the hit movie, Yamla Pagla Deewana which was released in 2011. Like last movie in this movie also, Dharmendra is playing a conman. However, when asked about his role in the movie Dharmendra joked and said,” "We auditioned many girls for playing Sunny's love interest in the film. We found beautiful Kristina Akheeva for him and I got jealous. I really wanted to play his character so that I could have romanced her”. The action hero is known for his good sense of humour.
Dharmendra earlier made an emotional family movie’ Apne’ with his actor sons but the movie did not get a welcome response from the box office. It was a sentimental movie. After the failure of this movie, the actor decided to try some other genre and hence came up with Yamla Pagla Deewana. "We three came together on-screen for the first time with 'Apne'. People liked our film but they said it was too emotional. So, I thought that next time we will do a comedy film and make my audience laugh," said Dharmendra.
If the sequel of Yamla Pagla Deewana does business like the first one, Producer of the film Dharmendra has plans to go for the third sequel. When asked if he is considering a third sequel the actor announced “We are looking forward to the third part and it will be much better and bigger than this. But let's see the second installment's response first.
