B-Town unites in Priyanka`s grief

As Bollywood mourned the passing of Priyanka Chopra's father, several of her peers shoved their professional rivalries aside to rally around in support at the prayer meet

A teary-eyed PC shared fond memories of her father with those assembled. The actress, who shared her father's fondness for music, played a few music tracks that were his favourites.

As per the tradition, PC's younger brother Siddharth wore a pink turban.

Among the current crop of actors, Rani Mukerji was one of the first to arrive while PC's close friend Uday Chopra stayed on till the end. The ballroom of the suburban hotel where the prayer meeting was held was filled with white flowers.

Her cousin Parineeti stayed by PC's side throughout the afternoon, while the actress seemed composed in comparison to Monday, when Dr Chopra passed away.

Ashok Chopra, who was hospitalised at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital two weeks ago, passed away Monday afternoon. His prayer meeting took place at J.W. Mariott in Juhu.

Those who attended the meet from the film industry were Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Shilpa Shetty, Karishma Kapoor, Abbas-Mustan, Dia Mirza, Nikhil Adwani, Rani Mukerji, Lara Dutta, Malaika Arora Khan, Isha Koppikar, Arpita, Alka Yagnik, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia D'Souza, Madhur Bhandarkar, Prabhudheva, Imran Khan, Uday Chopra, Rohit Shetty, Zoya Akhtar, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh among others.

Priyanka had reportedly cancelled all her shoots and was by his side for the last few days.

A doctor by profession, Ashok Chopra had retired from the Indian Army in 1997 as lieutenant colonel.

He is survived by his wife Madhu, also a former army doctor, daughter Priyanka and son Siddharth.
