Rajasthan Royals owner Raj Kundra has come under the scanner of IPL spot-fixing scandal. He was questioned for 10 long hours by police after three players of his team were arrested. Along with Raj Kundra,, his business partner Umesh Goenka might also be questioned today.
Raj Kundra comes into the scanner of the fixing scandal after cricketer Sidharth Tiwari’s claim. Police will interrogate him about the ownership pattern of the team.
Raj tweeted about the long questioning session, "It's been a long tiring day. Kudos to Delhi crime branch — Mr Sanjeev Yadav, DCP; Mr Manish Chandra, ACP; Mr Srivastav, Special CP, and Mr MM Oberoi. Raj who owns 11.7 percent stake in Rajasthan Royals refused to specify the reason for questioning. Police stated that he was an ‘important person’ need for questioning.
Police informed that Kundra was into betting but not fixing. They questioned basically about betting.
Police called up Kundra and asked him to appear before investigators as they wanted to ask about the ownership details of Rajasthan Royals.
"Kundra told police that he owned 11.7 per cent while Suresh Chelaram, co-brother of Lalit Modi owned 43 per cent and Manoj Badale has 34 per cent. Rupert Murdoch`s son Lalchan Murdoch also has stake in the team," a senior police official said.
Kundra, a British national, has 42 per cent stake in the steel business with Goenka who has 16 per cent shares in the firm, they said.
