For years now, Bollywood actresses have been typecast as the beautiful and innocent love interests of the macho dudes in B-town.

While the muscle men save the damsels in distress from the evil clutches of the goons onscreen, the sole responsibility of these women is to scream and look scared.

But every once in a while, a talented actress stands up and says ‘No’ to the rules. Biggies in Bollywood like Kajol, Preity Zinta, Kareena Kapoor and others stepped into negative roles, breaking all stereotypes forever.

The lusty tigress in Aitraaz, Priyanka Chopra literally brings Akshay Kumar’s character to his knees. Priyanka’s portrayal of the greedy woman won her an award in 2005.

The talented actress played one of the most epic roles in Gupt. She plays a two faced woman who acts innocent throughout the movie but reveals herself as the killer by the end. She became the first female actor to be nominated in the category of negative role and even won the Filmfare award in 1998.

In a tale of love, betrayal, money and vengeance called Fida -- Kareena plays a money thirsty vamp who dupes her lover Shahid Kapoor to take blame for a theft that he did not commit. With Fardeen Khan playing her real love, her character is truly a spiteful one.
  

Urmila Matondkar
Urmila plays the love scorned model who ultimately goes mad after trying to kill the hero’s wife in Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya. The queen of psycho thrillers, Urmila was nominated for Filmfare best villain award.
   
Preity Zinta
The bubbly Preity Zinta plays a schizophrenic woman in Armaan who is rich, arrogant and wants things her way. She was nominated for best villain in Filmfare.
  
Amrita Singh
She plays the evil sister to Juhi Chawla and does all in her power to steal her husband who is played by Jackie Shroff.

Vidya Balan
The sari clad ‘Gaon ki gori’ in Ishqiya turns out to be a cold blooded vamp by the end of the movie.
