Manna Dey’s condition stable now, doctors

Manna Dey’s who was admitted to a private hospital in Bangalore due to chest infection is said to be stable now. He was admitted on Saturday. Doctors informed that Manna Dey’s condition is stable now. They informed the infection in chest led to some complications. He is 94. Few months ago, he was rushed to the hospital after he complained of uneasiness and weakness.
"He was rushed to Narayana Health hospital a month ago when he complained of uneasiness and weakness. But when his health improved later, he returned home 10 days ago as his life-supporting parameters were stable," the friend, who wished to remain unidentified, said.

On his birthday 1st May, West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee handed over the Vishesh Maha-Sangeet Samman award at his home. The celebrated singer was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the country's highest award in the film world, in 2007. The Government of India even honoured him with the Padma Shri in 1971 and the Padma Bhushan in 2005.

He lended his voice in classics like ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Mera Naam Joker’, ‘Anand’ and ‘Sholay’ and many more.
Manna Dey has recorded more than 3,500 songs. He has sung song in many languages.
His all-time hits include "Ye raat bhigi bhigi, ye mast fizayen", "Jhanak jhanak tori baaje payaliya", "Tu pyar ka saagar hai", "Chunari sambhal gori udi chali jaye re",  "Ay meri Zohara", "Sur na saje kya gaun main", "Na to karanwa ki talash hai na to humsafar ki talash hain", "Puchho na kaise maine rain bitayee", "Laga chunari main daag", "Aaja sanam madhur chandani mein hum", "Dil ka haal sune dilwala" and the list goes on.
