If the Raanjhanaa director had his way he would have
asked his leading lady Sonam Kapoor to bring in her birthday on Sunday
in Varanasi.
Varanasi, for those who came in late, is where Sonam’s romance with the Tamil superstar Dhanush is located. And Aanand.L.Rai a diehard romantic had made elaborate plans to celebrate Sonam on the banks of the river Ganga.
Sonam, however, had other plans. She flew out to be in Paris with her close friends, thereby putting Aanand’s Varanasi plans on hold.
Says Aanand, “Sonam has worked really hard for my film. I’d say she had given a 150 percent of herself . She has earned herself this break. I’d have liked to take her to Varanasi. But she had other plans. And I am happy to see her be where she’s happy on her birthday.”
A R Rahman’s background music for Raanjhanaa and the film’s post-production are on simultaneously. While Rahman gives finishing touches to the score, reels with the completed background score are being rushed back from Chennai to Mumbai for mixing and final editing.
Says Aanand, “I can’t believe we are 13 days away from release and still doing the post-production work. But that’s the beauty of this film. It has taken shape piece by piece, emotion by emotion, until the whole edifice has emerged from months and months of construction work.”
The film stars Dhanush and Abhay Deol too in the lead roles.
