"Goenka has confirmed in his statement that Shilpa placed bets once," Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar told a daily. "Umesh Goenka - an entrepreneur by profession, himself is a bookie, and we are investigating his links with the rest of the leaders of the betting syndicate," added Kumar.
On Thursday morning, Umesh had revealed that Shilpa's entrepreneur husband Raj Kundra had been deeply involved in betting on various cricket matches.
Shilpa, however, has been constantly claiming on Twitter that she and her husband are innocent, and the media should refrain from 'derogatory statements' and unfair judgements.
However, the Delhi Police commissioner has stated that Kundra placed bets through Goenka. The Delhi Police has said that they do not intend to immediately arrest Raj Kundra because their investigation was focussed on spot- fixing, and not betting.
Kundra is said to have confessed to interrogators that he had been betting for the past three years, and had so far lost around a crore of rupees.
Shilpa, no matter how much you denied and wanted to shut the reports, your friend spilled it all!
