‘Dabangg 2’ crosses 100 crore club
The sequel to the blockbuster, ‘Dabangg’ has raked crores in the box office this year. ‘Dabangg 2’ is the directorial debut of actor Arbaaz Khan, and has reached the mark of Rs. 100 crore in a matter of 5 days since its release. The movie stars superstar Salmaan Khan and beautiful actress Sonakshi Sinha. Prakash Raj plays the bad villain in the film. The movie has been ringing bells even during the weekdays. This romantic comedy film has been bringing in stacks of money. Not only in India, but the film has also been scoring pretty well in the overseas theatres as well. Salman Khan has yet again managed to please his fans, bringing out yet another blockbuster.
The film kicked off with an awesome start on 21st December. It managed to collect a mind boggling Rs 15.5 crore in India on Tuesday. The domestic collection of the film now stands at a total of Rs. 92.66 crore. The interesting fact is that, compared to the other films, it has been doing very well even during the working days when the collection is generally pretty low. However, the fans of Salmaan Khan are ready to break their hectic schedule and go to the theatres to watch the movie.
In a recent study, it has been found, that the gross income of the films is as follows: Rs. 21.1 crore on Friday, Rs. 19.06 crore on Saturday, Rs. 25 crore on Sunday, Rs. 12 Crore on Monday, and Rs. 15.5 crore on Tuesday. Taran Adarsh, a trade analyst has predicted that the film is going to score pretty well in the days to come. Although there is a decrease in the income by about 50 percent after the Christmas, it is going to catch up soon due to upcoming New Year Season. He has also predicted that the movie, at this rate, would very soon cross a mark of Rs. 100 crore.
Apart from the domestic collection, the film did pretty well overseas as well. It has managed to collect a sum of Rs. 3.3 crore in UK, Rs. 5.6 crore in US, Rs. 7.3 crore in the UAE, Rs. 1.92 crore in Pakistan, Rs. 1.57 crore in Australia, Rs. 36.9 lakhs in New Zealand, and Rs. 10.27 lakhs in Fiji. Thus, it is evident that this year has proved to be another lucky year for Salman and Arbaaz. With two Blockbusters-‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Dabangg 2’, they are ready to celebrate their success in the coming New Year eve.
