Neil and Pooja’s lip lock scene axed in 'Shortcut Romeo'

South Indian filmmaker Susi Ganeshan’s Hindi debut movie “Shortcut Romeo” has been given a U/A certificate by the Censor Board of India and the kissing scene between actor Neil Nitin Mukesh

Neil Nitin Mukesh and actress Puja Gupta has been reduced to 50%.   

Susi Ganeshan confirmed the news. He said, "The film has got a U/A certificate with cuts. It is a very intense drama, which has a strong message in it. The lip lock scene between Neil and Puja has been reduced to 50 percent. So, the kissing scene has been diluted as per the request of the censor board."
He further added, "I think lip lock is very common in Bollywood but in south it's like a big deal. I thought the kissing scene was necessary as it goes with the flow of the film."
The film will be released on 21^st June.
"Shortcut Romeo” is a remake of his Tamil movie "Thiruttu Payale" and Ganeshan is quite optimistic that the Hindi remake will receive a positive response from the audiences. He wants to carve a path for himself in Bollywood. He says, “I am here to stay”. “I am not going to do just one film and go back to south. I am also producing ‘Shortcut Romeo’ and I want to try my hands in production and understand my business capability." said the director.
The director started his career in movie direction in 2002 with Tamil film "Five Star". He subsequently directed "Virumbugiren", "Thiruttu Payale" and "Kanthaswamy".
Other than Neil Nitin Mukesh and Puja Gupta, Ameesha Patel will also be seen in the movie in a negative role.
Neil made his Bollywood debut as an adult actor in “Johnny Gaddaar” which was released in 2007. He subsequently appeared in “New York” “Jail” “Lafangey Parindey” “Saat Khoon Maaf” and “David”. He earned critical acclaim for his role in “New York”. In 2009 the actor started an NGO “Saral Devi” to help needy and poor women.
Puja is the winner of Miss India Universe in 2007. She is a model turned actress. She made her Bollywood debut with “F.A.L.T.U” in 2011 and also appeared in “Go Goa Gone” in 2013.
Since a number of scenes are getting removed from Indian movies citing them as unfit for Indian audiences, a new type of film festival called "Cut-Uncut" festival in New Delhi featured un edited versions of Indian films which were later removed by the all-powerful Indian censor board before release of the movie.
