It is said that distance and absence makes the heart grow fonder. This is probably the reason why the couples who are farther away spend their time longing and thinking about each other. Well the live example from Bollywood of a couple who long for each other is Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt and his wife Maanyata Dutt.
Sanjay who is lodged in Yerawada Jail in Pune has been writing a letter every day to his wife who stays in Palli Hills in Mumbai. Even his wife Maanyata has been replying to the letters every day. Both are keeping in touch through letters. It is also reported that Maanyata visited Pune, a number of times since the time of arrest of the actor. She went and met him in jail as well.
Apart from informing about the regular routine of the kids and her daily life, Maanyata is keeping the actor abreast of the developments of his home production films. The letters are exchanged through regular postal services.
Sanjay married Maanyata in 2002 in a private ceremony in Goa. Maanyata is his third wife. They are blessed with two twin kids. Sanjay also has a daughter from her first marriage with late actress Richa Sharma. After that he married model Rhea Pillai but the marriage lasted seven years only.
In April 1993 Sanjay Dutt was arrested under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA). He was accused of illegal possession of AK 56 rifle. He spent 18 months in jail and was granted bail. In 2007 Sanjay was again sentenced to six years of imprisonment in the same case. He went to jail but within a short span, he again got a bail. In March 2013, Supreme Court gave a verdict that Sanjay Dutt was indirectly related to 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case. As he had illegal possessions of firearms, he was sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment. On appeal, he was first given an extension of few weeks and then again four weeks in order to finish shooting for his movies.
Sanjay Dutt also held a short stint in politics. He wanted to contest for 2009 Lok sabha election from Samajwadi party but he withdrew after court objected. He then chose to be the general secretary for the party but withdrew from this also after almost a year.
Sanjay Dutt is known in Bollywood as an established actor who has given a number of super hit movies.
