SRK-Gauri in legal hassle over sex determination

In the recently published news, Shahrukh Khan and wife Gauri Khan are expecting their third child this July via surrogacy and they have even declared that the sex of their unborn child is a baby boy. Although SRK has not officially declared the sex of his unborn baby but some website has published that Shahrukh and Gauri are expecting a baby boy.
However, this sex declaration has not gone well with the state’s Indian Radiological and Imaging Associations (IRIA) and they have raised question on Shahrukh's declaration.
“We have written to the state health department to find out how the actor came to know about the unborn child’s sex when sex determination is illegal in India,” said Dr Jignesh Thakkar, coordinator for the Pre-Conception Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, IRIA.
Sex determination is illegal in India and now there will be a search as how Shahrukh came to know that he is expecting a baby boy. “Though filling of form F [mandatory while conducting a ultrasound] has nothing to do with sex determination, radiologists are caught for it under the act,” said Dr Sanjeev Mani, senior radiologist, Holy Family Hospital, Bandra.
IRIA has emailed to the top state health department officials, including state health minister Suresh Shetty, asking for an investigation and action against those involved.
Doctors say there is a breach of law on the part of celebrities. “If news reports are true then it is a clear that the celebrities can get away with breaking the law,” said Thakker.
Health experts said the PCPNDT Act did not apply in case the sex determination was done outside the country.
State health officials said they are collecting information about the fact.
In a news report published few days back, Shahrukh Khan and Gauri Khan are ready to welcome their third baby who will born this July via surrogate mother.
