Deepika Padukone is playing a South Indian girl in her upcoming project ‘Chennai Express’ opposite Shahrukh Khan and a photo was released online where she is wearing a blue lungi, red shirt with a sunglass. The actress revealed that it was Shahrukh Khan and director Rohit Shetty’s idea to dress up in lungi.
"That's something new and I hope it works," says Deepika about her look. "The idea to wear a 'lungi' is not mine actually. It was Shahrukh and Rohit who came up with it. We had to quickly do a photoshoot because we were losing the light. They were like 'Why don't we give her this 'lungi' and make her look modern'. The shirt that I am wearing in the posters also belongs to SRK, only the sunglasses are mine," the actress told PTI.
A couple of days back, a poster of the film was released where both Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone has done ‘DDLJ’ act of train. After the blockbuster ‘Om Shanti Om’ Shahrukh and Deepika again team up for ‘Chennai Express’.
After two back to back hit, ‘Cocktail’ and ‘Race 2’, Deepika is looking forward for a promising 2013.
"It has been a good year but my next next six months are very demanding in terms of my schedule. I hope all the hard work pays. I have 'Chennai Express' and 'Kochadaiyaan' with Rajini (Rajinikanth) sir is also ready for release," says Deepika.
She is also simultaneously shooting Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Ram Leela’ and also doing Ayan Mukherjee’s 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' with Ranbir Kapoor. Grapevine buzzed that she has been roped for Salman Khan starrer ‘Kick’ but the actress denied.
"That's all speculation. It probably stems from the fact that I had expressed a desire to work with Salman Khan. Maybe these stories are coming from there. There is nothing concrete on that film yet", quoted Deepika.
‘Chennai Express’ is slated to release this year. After the success of ‘Bol Bachchan’, Rohit Shetty is looking forward to his next project with high anticipation.
