Emraan Hashmi and Ekta Kapoor to visit Kumbh mela

Bollywood has always known the importance of the film promotion. It is a crucial factor in achieving success of a movie. Long gone are the days of posters and trailers only at the movie halls. The new age promotional campaigns consist of contests, social media events, live functions and appearance of the star cast in various popular programs. It seems Bollywood has taken a leaf out of the Hollywood marketing book. However, the creative marketing people are not short of their own creative ideas and a case in point is the promotion plan of the movie, ‘Ek Thi Daayan’.
Ekta Kapoor, team of Balaji motion pictures and Emraan Hashmi along with his co-stars is all set to visit the maha Kumbh mela taking place at Allahabad. Though it seems that the promotion of the horror flick is the utmost in the mind of the crew, the grapevines tell otherwise. The maha Kumbh mela is an auspicious occasion and it radiates positive energy which the crew is interested to make good use of.
The team of Balaji motion pictures has decided the day of Mauni Amavasya on February 10^th as the day of their film promotion at the Kumbh mela. It will be the busiest day at the mela and an expected crowd of almost 10 crore people is expected to visit Allahabad on that day. It doesn’t seem to be a safe idea to hold a promotion on such a crowded day. Safety would be of highest concern.
However, for a smooth promotional activity, the actor Emraan Hashmi and his co-star Huma Qureshi will be moving into specially constructed tents on the banks of river Ganga, on 8^th Feb 2013. The tents will be surrounded by security guards as is expected. The actors are also going to take a dip in holy Ganga and pray for the success of the film.
The CEO of Balaji motion pictures, Tanuja Garg speaking on the upcoming event, stated “The Maha Kumbh is a renowned international event of epic proportions. Despite challenges in terms of logistics, we are taking the plunge, to seek blessings and promote our first release of the year, in such a mammoth manner.”
We sure hope that the movie ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ becomes a block blaster hit. Although seeking blessings for a horror flick from the gods does seem to be a first of its kind.
