As the world gears up to pay tribute to 100 years of Indian cinema, we cannot deny the contribution of this single family in the rise of Bollywood. The kapoors have remained the uncrowned kings of the silver screen of India and four generations have contributed towards the development of the industry. Actor Rishi Kapoor pointed out during his speech in the Gollapudi Srinivas National Award(GNSA) ceremony held at the music academy, “Indian Cinema will step into 100th year by 2013. And Kapoor family has contributed 84 years in cine world”.
Aditya Raj Kapoor, the actor son of superstar Shammi Kapoor is lavish in his praise of his father and uncles as he talked about their contribution to the Indian commercial film. "I just saw Raj Kapoor's Chori Chori and that film is still young. Shammiji's Kashmir Ki Kali is still young. Shashiji's Sharmilee also. So these people have contributed a lot to the film industry," said Aditya during the mahurat of his latest project ‘Parents’.
Analysing how uncles Raj Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor as well as father Shammi Kapoor brought the screen to life, Aditya said "Raj saab said a lot even without saying anything. Shammiji just moved a bit and a song got over. Shashiji's style made a lot of women's hearts flutter. There is really (a lot of) what these three people have contributed.”
The contribution of his grandfather, Prithviraj Kapoor cannot be denied, said Aditya. "All three of them have come from a man (named) Prithviraj Kapoor. Watch my grandfather's early films like Sikander. He was a handsome man," he added.
Even the latest generation of Kapoors are doing very well in Bollywood. Ranbir Kapoor, the son of Rishi Kapoor has become one of the rising young stars of Bollywood and Aditya is happy for him. "Ranbir is very special. He is making big efforts and he has moved out of his family tradition and done some tough roles. He is making a lot of effort and at such an age. He has everything and doesn't need to, but still he is doing such a lot of work," he said.
At present, Aditya is busy with his new film ‘parents’ which releases next month. Directed by Hanif Chippa and co produced by Kishore Jangid and Deepak Jangid, the music has been composed by Shravan Rathod.
