Deepika speaks about working with Ranbir post break-up

Deepika is ambitious due to which she takes her profession seriously. She had a break-up with Ranbir Kapoor after a one-year affair in the year 2009. However, unlike many other couples the two are comfortable sharing screen space.
“Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” is being directed by Ayan Mukerji of “Wake up! Sid” fame. The film is being produced under the banner of Dharma Productions. Thus when Deepika was approached for this film, she did not mind doing it despite Ranbir being the male lead. Also, she has been given quite a meaty role in this film, for which she could not turn down the offer.
Deepika in an interview quite candidly spoke about her films. She said “I am more than happy I was part of 'Cocktail'. It was the most satisfying experience to do the film. The audience really appreciated me a lot in 'Cocktail'.”
She also added, “So this year, I am extremely happy about 'Cocktail' and have no regrets. But if you ask me about last year, then yes, I would say, I wish I was part of Rockstar.”
She quite openly mentioned that a few films that she had done in the past, specifically in the last two years have not been satisfactory. She said, “I don't regret anything but, yes, I have been disappointed with two to three films that I did in the last two years.”
This year she was seen only in the film Cocktail which worked at the box-office and her performance in the film was highly appreciated. However, when asked about the kind of films that work at the box-office she said, “Many a time, a most predictable film doesn`t work, while the least expected films click at the box office. So everything is in the hands of the audience. I don`t demarcate any film. If a film does well and gets into the Rs.100 crore club, well and good. But I want the audience to appreciate my quality of work.”
When asked about her next multi-starrer film “Race 2” which is a sequel to “Race” that will release on the 25th of January, Deepika said, “I really liked `Race` and that excited me to be part of the film. Besides, I like the working style of Abbas-Mustan. The character that I play in the film is also different. I play a very manipulated and very aggressive woman, which I have not played before."
