Akshay Kumar set to break Salman Khan's monopoly

Salman Khan always has an Eid release and he set this trend of releasing movies during Eid since 2009. It all started with ‘Wanted’(2009), then ‘Dabangg’ (2010) to ‘Bodyguard’ (2011), and finally ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ (2012). All these movies mentioned released on Eid and interestingly all his Eid releases have done fabulous business at the box-office. He makes sure that he always has one big release during Eid for his fans and this monopoly of releasing movie on the auspicious day is going for four years.
But this year he will have a competitor. Balaji Motion Pictures ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Again’ which stars Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead is also slated for 2013 Eid release. The makers of ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Again’ is determined to release their film around Eid. They have scheduled the release date of their movie which eventually going to clash with Salman Khan’s 2013 Eid release ‘Kick’ to be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The film is a Hindi remake of Telugu film.
OUATIM 2 has blocked the date around Eid. A source tells us that producer Ekta Kapoor is ecstatic. “She is extremely happy for getting hold of this date, as it could work wonders for the business of her film.” Directed by Milan Luthria, the film is a sequel to Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi starrer ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’. The sequel also stars Imran Khan and Sonali Bendre in a pivotal role.
Rumor is also doing the rounds, Salman is zeroing on his brother Sohail Khan’s remake of Telugu film ‘Stalin’ tentatively titled ‘Mental’ for this year Eid release but nothing has been settled yet.
On-screen the two big stars might have a face-off but off-screen they share a great camaraderie and it was noticed when Akshay Kumar came to Bigg Boss 6 with his co-star Asin to promote his film 'Khiladi 786'
Let’s see who rules the box-office during this Eid!
