Kamal Hassan’s ‘Vishwaroopam’ enters 100 crore club



Released amidst controversy in various parts of India, Kamal Hassan’s multi-crore project ‘Vishwaroopam’ has done an exceptional business at the box-office and crossed 100 crore mark in just five days. Apart from Kamal Hassan, the movie stars Pooja Kumar, Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah and Shekhar Kapur in the pivotal role.
Highly thrilled with the number, actor Rahul Bose tweeted "Just received figures of the all india box office collections of vishwaroopam. 120 crores and counting. Superb! Vishwaroopam's the first film I've been a part of that's made over 100 crores. Congratulatuions to the team and mr haasan especially!"
‘Vishwaroopam’ is released in multi language. The movie has soundtrack by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and lyrics has been penned by Vairamuthu for South Indian language and Javed Akhtar translated them for the Hindi viewers.
The film saw protest from the Muslim communities. It was banned in Andra Pradesh, Karnataka and in Tamil Nadu. While the banned was taken off by the protesters from AP and Karnataka but the film saw a delay release in TM. In TM the film was released in February 7th. The Muslims claimed that there are scenes in ‘Vishwaroopam’s which showed them in bad lights. Few scenes were also cut from the film to make suitable for viewers.
Kamal Hassan was very disturbed due to the whole controversy over his film but he received huge support from his fans and film fraternities from Bollywood.
Kamal Hassan also announced that he would soon start working on ‘Vishwaroopam 2’.
