‘Race 2’ crosses 100 crore mark




2013 first big release Abbas Mustan’s ‘Race 2’ has entered the 100 crore club in the second week. Released in the last week of January, the film collected Rs 51.35 in the opening weekend and crossed the 100 crore mark in less than a month.
Trade analyst, Taran Adarsh tweeted saying: "Race2 collected approx Rs. 24.35 cr nett in Week 2. Grand total: approx Rs. 100.45 cr nett". Made on big budget of Rs 60 crore, the film had collected Rs 79 crore in the domestic box-office".
'Race 2’ made 76.1 crore in the first week and made 24 crore in its second week. Gradually, the film collection decreased but comparing to the six movies released thereafter, ‘Race 2’ was the first priority for the audience.
‘Race 2’ is the sequel to 2008 blockbuster ‘Race’ starring Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham and Ameesha Patel in the lead role. Anil Kapoor reprise the role of the cop and Ameesh Patel replaced Sameera Reddy to play Anil's assistant.

'Race 2' rides high on emotions and style. The high octane thriller has many twists and turns. This is the first time in which John Abraham and Saif Ali Khan paired together. Deepika Padukone played Saif's ladylove in the movie. The lead actress of the original Bipasha Basu also had  a small role to play. The sequel starts from where the first part ended.
Though critics rated the movie average, audience gave thumps-up to it.
