Aamir Khan turns 48 today

Aamir Khan

is one of the mega stars that Bollywood has today. He is a really talented actor, a brilliant human being and also a successful producer and director. He was born on 14 March 1965. On the occasion of his birthday, let us trace back his early career and some of the biggest hits that he has given to Bollywood. He was born in a family that was very much attached to films. His dad was Tahir Khan, one of a major film producer of his time. Moreoever, his uncle Nasir Hussain was a leading actor, director as well as a producer. Hence, it was obvious that Aamir too would be tracing the path of films following his uncle and his father. His first film was Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973) directed by his uncle. He was an adolescent at that time. Although he appeared in the film Holi(1984),  it was several years later that his first major hit came in the form of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988). This film is said to be his first commercially successful movie. He had also acted in the film Raakh, for which he received the National Film Award.
After this came his biggest hit film ever in his career. It was Raja Hindustani. The film won him the award for the best actor at the Filmfare. His role and scenes in the film is still a major topic of discussion. After that he did Lagaan in the year 2001. He was critically appraised for the film, directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar. This film got the nomination for the Academy Awards. After this, Aamir went on a long break for about 4 years. During this time he refused to take up any major films. He came back with another major film of his career: Mangal Pandey: The Rising in 2005. This film played a very significant role in his career. Next film was Rang De Basanti in 2006. This film got him yet another Best Actor Award at the Filmfare.
In 2007, Aamir made his first debut as a director with Taare Zameen Par. This was yet another acclaimed film and won him the award for the Best Director. A year later, he acted in Ghajini. This film was the most grossing film at the box office for that year. And then came 3 Idiots, which broke all the grossing films’ records till date.
Aamir has always been known as Mr.Perfectionist, as he is extremely choosy about his films. His latest movie was Talaash, which too was successful at the theaters.
