Films immortalize songs, dances: Waheeda

Veteran actress Waheeda Rehman said Hindi films have immortalized songs and dances that are integral parts of Indian culture.

Rehman, who ruled the silver screen through the 50s, 60s and the early 70s, was recently presented with 101 Silver Screen Stars - a mini encyclopedia by Shemaroo that treasures the journey of 101 stars from Bollywood.

The veteran actress went on a nostalgic trip seeing her contemporaries and was very touched to see herself as a part of 101 Silver Screen Stars.

`Songs and dance are part of Indian culture and Hindi films have immortalized this aspect of our tradition. Shemaroo's 101 Silver Screen Stars eloquently captures the essence of Indian films' culture and charisma of superstars from the days of black-n-white films to the colour," she said.

"Congratulations to Shemaroo for completing 50 golden years in the 101st year of Indian cinema and giving us immortal collections that we can keep in our personal library.

"We can cherish and treasure what was written about us, what awards we won, and our work and filmography thanks to this heart-winning concept. I wish that Shemaroo completes 100 years and continues to revive the old and present it to the new generations,` said Rehman.
