Aishwarya shines in a gown at the L'oreal Femina Woman Awards




The Loreal Femina Women Awards 2013 was held yesterday. These awards function is held to basically give recognition to the women who have contributed to the society in a positive manner. It honors them with an award, so as to appreciate them for the hard work that they have put in. L’Oreal Paris and Femina collaborated for this one. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan graced the occasion. She looked elegant in a golden gown. She presented the Readers Choice Awards.
Speaking on the occasion, the former Miss World said, "L'Or?al Paris, with its tag line - 'Because You're Worth It' has always encouraged women to empower themselves, feel beautiful from within and lead an extraordinary life.
Today I will be presenting the award for Social Impact which talks about women who have done phenomenal work to create solutions that have impacted the lives of so many people and I very strongly relate to the causes that these women are working towards".
She further added, "The woman who has been nominated in this category represents the changing face of modern India and the great success that lies ahead for our country".
Sonam Kapoor, being the face of L’Oreal Paris, sizzled on the red carpet. She was seen wearing an Atsu Sekhose and looked absolutely glam. On the other hand, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked equally sizzling in her shimmery silver Rahul Gandhi-Rahul Khanna gown, which she teamed up with a black blazer.  The awards were presented across 18 categories which comprised of entrepreneurship, sports, art, education, television, music, science, and business. Everyone from the industry lent out their support to this event, as it was all about recognizing the women for their achievements and commitment towards their society. It is for women who have stood up for what they believe in, whose efforts have helped others lead a better life, and who have spread awareness about various issues that have helped make a difference to the society.
 There are generally three categories under which the women are awarded, i.e., reader’s choice, editor’s choice and the jury. But what makes it even more special this year is, that they will also provide grants to the winners in the following four categories which will be chosen by the fans of L’Oreal Paris and Femina. The categories are Favorite Face of a Cause, Science and Innovation, Online Influencer and Social Impact.    
 There were various performances all through the evening but some of them stood out. Shubha Mudgal, The Diva Project- Manasi Scott and a special act from the much-admired play ‘The Vagina Monologues” were done to the hilt.
 The much loved Vidya Balan received the award in the category, ‘Women We Love’ from Tarun Rai, CEO of Worldwide Media.
 Being a collaboration of L’Oreal Paris and Femina, it was sure to be a high profile event, where everyone came out in their finest finery. Style and Fashion definitely went hand-in-hand at this event.
 Some of the celebrities that graced this event were Vidya Balan, Shabana Azmi, Farhan Aktar, Gauri Shinde, Kunal Kapoor, Simone Singh, Aditi Rao Hyadri, Lisa Hayden, Manish Malhotra, Nandita Das, Neha Dhupia, Diya Mirza, Pria Kataaria Puri, Sakshi Tanwar, Mini Mathur, Kabir Khan, Seema Biswas and Sudha Murthy.
