Director Sujoy Ghosh, who has won the National award for best screenplay for his film "Kahaani", says the prestigious honour is an appreciation which makes the effort worth it.
The winners of 60th National Film Awards were announced here Monday.
"It feels very good when somebody honours our hard work. Besides, the work is meaningful only when you (audience) will appreciate it. My appreciation does not matter, you have to appreciate it," the 46-year-old said in an interview.
"So, if you and the audience or anybody comes to me and say that this work is good only then it is meaningful. So now I am feeling very good," he added.
Ghosh added that the National award was never on his mind as making the film itself was a big struggle.
"We never thought because at that time making the film was the biggest fight. So we all were trying to make a good film. What is going to happen in future we did not know and didn't have time to think about that," he said.
Starring Vidya Balan in the lead, "Kahaani" also won the best actress trophy at most of the film awards last year.
