Marriage not crime for an actress: Kareena Kapoor

Marriage not crime for an actress: Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor, who wed Saif Ali Khan last year, says being married is not a crime for an actress. She believes personal and professional aspects of life must not be mixed.

"If a girl loves someone or gets married, it doesn't mean that people will not love her or her character on-screen. These (films and marriage) are two different aspects and we should not try and club them. Anyways, falling in love or getting married is not a crime," the 32-year-old said here Tuesday on the opening day of FICCI FRAMES 2013.

Kareena was here to light the ceremonial lamp for the three-day event.

She even cited examples of yesteryears' actresses, who went on to do films even after marriage.

"I think people are talking about it more (now). Earlier also, be it Waheedaji (Rehman) or Sharmilaji (Tagore), they were all married and they all acted in films like 'Daag', 'Amar Prem' and 'Guide'. It has been happening (ever since)," Kareena said.

Kareena married Saif Oct 16, 2012.

I hope to die on sets

Bollywood actresses like Lara Dutta, Dia Mirza and Preity Zinta have tried their hand at film production, but Kareena Kapoor has no such plans. She says she is all for acting, and hopes she is on the set even when she takes her last breath.

"I have never been interested in production, direction or writing. I have always been interested in acting since childhood, and I will continue doing it till I grow old. I will keep on visiting the sets and hope I will even die on the sets," Kareena said here at the FICCI Frames 2013.

Kareena comes from Bollywood's famous Kapoor family, which has produced legends like her great grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor and grandfather Raj Kapoor.

Her parents Randhir Kapoor and Babita made their mark as popular actors too, and her Kareena's elder sister Karisma was among the top actresses of 1990s. Her cousin Ranbir is touted as Bollywood's latest youth icon.

Kareena herself is one of the top-rated talents of current times, and as of now, she is busy shooting for Prakash Jha's "Satyagraha" and Karan Johar's "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein."

To celebrate Holi with Imran Khan

Actress Kareena Kapoor has no special plans for her first Holi post marriage with actor Saif Ali Khan as she says both of them are busy shooting for their respective films

"I would be celebrating Holi this time with Imran Khan as I would be shooting for Karan Johar's film. Saif will be in Lucknow for shooting of 'Bullet Raja'," Kareena said. Punit Malhotra, who is directing the Imran Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer titled 'Gori Tere Pyar Mein', is all set to recreate the magic seen in their earlier movie 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu'.

'Bullet Raja', directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, stars Saif opposite Sonakshi Sinha. The film is reportedly set against the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh-based mafia while dealing with the underworld.

Asked if marriage has changed things for her in Bollywood, Kareena said, "It is nothing like that. Earlier we have had actresses like Waheeda Rehmanji, Sharmila ji and others who continued to work (after marriage) and did good films.

It is all a media created thing that marriage changes things for an actress. People still like to see the films of all the heroines." "I would continue to work as an actress. Since childhood acting has been my passion and it will remain so. I will die as an actress... may be on a film set only," she said.
