Well, it looks like gone are the days when presence of seasoned or established cine stars use to be a mandate for the making of a good movie. With the dishing out of, some of the newbie decorated movies in the recent times the notion which seems to be strengthening its roots in tinsel town is " it's an era of content driven cinema" and even big banners seems to be least bit coy in embracing the trend.

Be it "Pyaar Ka Punchnaam", "Kai Po Che!" every time it had been freshness and the outstanding performances of newcomers which has left its impact. And now the newest entrant of the league is Y Films's "Mere Dad Ki Maruti". This vrooming joy ride featuring Saqib Saleem, Rhea Chakrwarty and small screen' superstar Ram Kapoor opened with an occupancy of around 18 % at the multiplex.

Synopsis
Ever since DDLJ, for Bollywood's cine sorcerers Punjab and Punjabi culture have emerged as one of the most happening destination for crafting the movies knitted around the core of nuptial theme. And so is the case with "Mere Dad Ki Maruti", where a young lad sneaks out a newly bought car purchased by his family to gift it to his sister on her wedding. But things turn upside down for him when he looses the same, but from there takes over a fun filled joyride of humor.

Story
Sameer (Saqib Salim) is a free-spirited, "aspirational for girls" kinda guy who is widely believed as a good-for nothing creature of his family by his father Tej Khullar ( Ram Kapoor) who is busy in making matrimony preparations for Sameer's sister Tanvi (Benazir Shaikh). Amid all the nuptial preparations going on, Tej Khullar buys a Maruti Ertiga car to gift it to Tanvi on her marriage. But at the same time good-for-nothing child of the family, Sammer has a rendezvous with his dream girl Jazzline (Rhea Chakrawarty) who asks Sameer to accompany her in a party.

So with an objective of impressing this "Shakira of Chandigarh", Sameer decides to sneak the newly purchased Maruti to go out for a party with Jazzline. But by the time party gets over, the entire hell breaks loose over Sameer who looses the brand new car and from there takes over a rib tickling search drive for the lost vehicle.

Script
As said earlier, that Punjab and Punjabi culture has turned into one of the most reliable sweethearts of Bollywood cine biggies for making simple yet impressive cine tales crafted around big fat Punjabi wedding. So is the case with "Mere Dad Ki Maruti" which has got a script which is nowhere complicated by scriptwriter Neeraj Udhwani to create any kind of obtruded fuss around the premise.

With a smoothly flowing narration, well stitched splices and no unwanted Mamaji's and Taayiji's in it, premise of "Mere Dad Ki Maruti" is neatly written in an apple pie order.

Screenplay and Dialogues
With simple yet impressive script but sans any larger than life phenomenas in it, task of creating an attention grabbing screenplay for making an impressive cine tale becomes more steep for all those who are bound to take care of it. But it looks like before pushing "Mere Dad Ki Maruti" on the floor, screenplay team of the movie comprising of Neeraj Udhwani, Pooja Desai and Ashima Chibber well versed themselves with the culture and lingo in which the roots of their cine delight are to be embedded.

Be it the any frame of the movie, everything configured in "Mere Dad Ki Maruti" seemed toned till the highest mark of perfection to make a lovable joy ride. With everything being so much culture-identical entire screenplay of the movie, nowhere seems to be ditching the audience with any kind of fake authentication.

Besides screenplay, another onscreen component that deserves a huge bunch of accolades is the dialogues. In dialogues department Ishita Lahiri has not only penned some exceptional rhetoric chunks garnished with witty one-liners but at the same time has also succeeded in doing an absolute justice to the dialectical custom and manner too.

Direction
After being under the apprenticeship of Shimit Amin and Imtiaz Ali this time Ashima Chibber opted to go ahead with a full fledged movie under her directorial patronage and believe me she has thoroughly succeeded in proving her mettle, while being in director's chair.

By keeping all the seasonings in a perfect proportion to dish out a perfect masala entertainer, Ashima has thoroughly proved that she has got a long way to go in the years ahead. Be it flow of narration, intensity of humor or cultural substantiveness, Ashima kept every thing under tabs to make a thoroughly enjoyable cine cantata.

Music and Background Score
Keeping in view the theme and spirit of the movie, music director Sachin Gupta has also succeeded in delivering some very impressive foot-thumping soundtracks. Tracks like "Haaye", "Punjabiyaan Di Battery" and "Main Senti hoon" are surly the ones which will succeed in fetching a leaf in the CD folder of "Youngistaan."

Performances
After showcasing his acting adroitness in "Mujhse Fraandship Karoge", in Mere Dad Ki Maruti, Saqib Saleem has once again proved that he has got ample potential to make his mark in the glamour aisles in the years ahead. Besides him it's the super star of small screen Ram Kapoor who has proved that he has got a high amount of acting versatility to impress the masses on the celluloid too.

Though newbie Rhea Chakraborty didn't get much scope to put her acting adroitness at display, but inspite of that she has looked cute and confident. Ravi Kissen in the robe of a local goon has well performed his character. But the man who deserves to be accoladed with an entire garland of goodies for his outstanding performance is Prabal Punjabi, who offers numerous rib tickling moments with Saqib during entire movie. Rest of the supporting cast comprising of Karan Mehra, Benazir Shaikh have also succeeded in contributing their share of performances efficiently.

BO Potential
Although "Mere Dad Ki Maruti" offers you a quality entertainment, but in the absence of extensive promotion and big faces in it, the movie may not succeeded in making a huge dent on BO. The only thing that can do some miracle for this otherwise entertaining cine delight is, word of mouth publicity.

Verdict
To sum up, with a perfect proportion of all the necessary seasonings required to make a scrumptious cine delight, "Mere Dad Ki Maruti" is a vrooming fun-ride which will not disappoint you in any manner.
