Original 'Chashme Buddoor' to clash with David Dhawan's Remake

Original `Chashme Buddoor` to clash with David Dhawan`s Remake

The war between the remake and original just got hotter. In an overnight decision PVR Films have decided to refurbish and re-release the original Chashme Buddoor directed by Sai Paranjpye on same Friday April 5 as David Dhawan's remake.

This decision has surprised many from David's team.

Said one of the actors, `It doesn't really affect us. Our film is very different from Sai Paranjpye's film, as different as Bol Bachchan was from its purported original source Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Gol Maal. So we aren't really bothered. PVR recently re-released Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron. It had no impact. Classics have their own place. They are irreplaceable. And we aren't trying to replace the original Chashme Buddoor. `

When asked about the flash-decision to re-release Sai's 1981 comic classic Shiladitya Bora of PVR commented, `We regularly do re-releases. The response to Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron was encouraging. Releasing the original Chashme Buddoor on the same day as the remake will help both the films as the buzz regarding the two avatars would be at the optimum. `

Bora also reiterates that the Sai Paranjpye film would have a much more restricted release. `It would be unfair to compare both the releases. Ours would be a limited release. The remake would be given a much wider release. `
