Priyanka Chopra upset as Barfi loses out on the National award

The national awards are considered as one of the highest recognition in the film industry. It recognizes the best talent from the industry and presents them with the award that brings instant recognition. This year also, it has done the same. Some of the best talents from the film industry have been conferred with the National award for their creativity. And those who deserved, won.
‘Barfi’, directed by Anurag Basu, and having Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles did exceptionally well and was one of the most acclaimed movies, but it failed to score at the National awards. Although ‘Barfi’ won the maximum awards at other award functions held all through January and February.
Priyanka Chopra, who essayed the character of Jhilmil, has been feeling disappointed ever since. She essayed the role of an autistic girl, and gave an exceptional performance. Similarly, Ranbir Kapoor, who played a deaf and mute boy, was charismatic and absolutely lively in the lead role. His performance was beyond par and the film also crossed the 100 crore mark, but failed to get critical acclaim at the National Awards. It scored on most other award platforms but missed out the National awards. Priyanka Chopra, who has just done her first item song, was heard saying during the launch, “I am feeling bad that Barfi did not win a National Award. But then it is up to the jury why they did not give the award.”
‘Kahaani’, ‘Vicky Donor’ and ‘Paan Singh Tomar’, these were the top award winners at the recently declared National awards. Irrfan Khan received the award for the best actor, and the winners for the supporting actor and actress went to Annu Kapoor and Dolly Ahluwalia, respectively, for their roles in ‘Vicky Donor’. And for the best screenplay, it was Sujoy Ghosh for ‘Kahaani’. Very well deserved is what we call it.
But at the same time, it is all smiles in the Chopra family, what with the younger Chopra, Parineeti, winning the special mention at the National award for her role in ‘Ishaqzaade’. Priyanka speaking about this stated that "I am happy for her. Now, in the Chopra family, there are two national awards. The whole day I had to explain what special mention means!”
Priyanka Chopra herself is a National award winner, for her scintillating performance in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’, and the movie went on to become one of the biggest hits of her career.
