Director Sanjay Gupta says Priyanka Chopra's look in "Babli Badmaash" was inspired by Amitabh Bachchan's "Yaarana" song, especially the jumpsuit that he wore in the track.
Priyanka Monday lauched the first look of the song that is part of the Gupta-directed "Shootout At Wadala".
"The song is not inspired from anybody but the outfit that Priyanka wore in the song with lights is. I have seen 'Yaarana' when I was in school and I was inspired by Amitji's jumpsuit. So I wanted to do that and was waiting for the special occasion so we did it," Gupta told reporters.
The film also features John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Sonu Sood, Tusshar Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut, Manoj Bajpayee, Ronit Roy and Mahesh Manjrekar.
Talking about her experience shooting for the song, Priyanka says item girl tag has been overdone.
"I don't think it's a tag and I think this item girl thing has been overdone. We don't used to call Helenji that. When you do a song and dance in somebody else's film, it's like a guest appearance. The moment you say it's an item song, it cheapens it a little bit," she said.
Gupta added: "It's a special appearance, it's a guest appearance and let's just stick to that. It's easy to term it so (item girl) but its all nonsense."
With the latest controversy of item numbers being given 'A' certificate because of the lyrics and skin show, Priyanka says she was aware of it and they have tried to keep the fun part in the song without demeaning it.
"As a team we were very aware of it because of the recent controversies that happened. We thought it should be a fun song but we thought it shouldn't be demeaning. We have tried to do 80s kind of dancing style... we have touched upon that and not done it. We have kept in sexy, interesting without demeaning it," she said.
