Famous Tollywood actress Rituparna Sengupta recently sent a legal notice to the editor of a Bengali daily newspaper in Kolkata for allegedly connecting her name with politics for their own vested interests.
According to reports, Ramala Chakraborty, a Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader and wife of late former Left Front Minister Subhas Chakraborty who also heads 'Pather Panchali', an NGO, had invited the actress for the release of a music CD dedicated to women like 'Damini' or 'Nirbhaya' who met with brutality.
The next day a Bengali daily published a news commenting upon the actress' political inclination and how Ramala Chakraborty is acting as a mediator to materialize an understanding between Sengupta and the party she is involved with.
The newspaper also stated that she appeared at the event for the campaigning of upcoming Panchayat election.
Sengupta alleged that the newspaper has intentionally misused her name by connecting the same with a political party for their vested interest.
She called such tagging as irresponsible and yellow journalism.
Rituparna also recently called a press conference on the issue.
Sengupta firmly stated that she has absolutely no connection with politics, she doesn't understand politics and she has no such plan to get into politics in future.
She also informed the media that she has sent a legal notice to the editor of the concerned newspaper for defaming her and is preparing for further proceedings.
`I am a conscious and sensible citizen of this country, I will stand for every good cause if I wish to and that can be a matter of any political party. I am far away from politics, I don't know about politics.` she said.
`I am a person who is solely dedicated to her work. I would never lose my personal self or dignity," she said.
